I managed to create a US itunes account though I haven't purchased anything yet. I got a few apps thus far and updated my phone to iOS 4.2. Any recommendations on Apps? I am in the process of setting WIFI at home but my Wireless Access point died so I will probably have to buy a new wireless router.


I also ended up blocking my old phone because I forget my pin yet I used to switch my old phone off/on daily. I used to type the pin by habit without even knowing it LoL. When the pin entry came up I blanked out lol and entered 5 wrong entries so I have to phone Vodacom for PUK Number.

What kind of apps are you looking for?
Games, navigation, remote control, social networking, etc
There SO many apps and there are alot to recommend hehe thats's the best thing about the iOS platform, you just never can get enough, plus you don't get the malware and malicious apps Android does :-D hehe

Never mind. Figured it out.

You have to change the country to US and then buy a free app after which you can register the new account. This is the only way the payment option 'None' appears.

The malware pimples were bound to show up with a market as open as Googles ...
but I think that they were quick to remove the apps from the market ...

I have had an Android phone for 4 months now and played with a lot more ... and I haven't found any bugs that would stop me from getting another droid device ...

I would rather have a device which allows me to do what I want as opposed to a phone that forces me to shrink to conform to it ...

Not even considering the fact that it's possible to jailbreak the iPhone and it allowing me to do what I want...

Open AND closed systems have their advantages and disadvantages...

It makes sense that Apple dominate the app market considering that they have been doing it for a while now ...
But also consider the strides that Android have made in the last year ... it looks like it wouldn't be long before Android becomes the leader in the market ...

Yeah, Apple is a HUGE role model... If they don't innovate, the rest can't follow...
It's more than possible for android to reach the point of selling more devices as a combined platform, or having more apps, but the thing is that developers have to release multiple versions of the same app to try accommodate all OS versions and all hardware because the fragmentation of the platform is preventing any easy way solutions.
So an app running on a friends android device isn't guaranteed to also run on your device. IF it is even available for you device.
Hence the different android markets and everybody not being able to run the same apps.

Also, I'd rather have to jailbreak than to be stuck waiting for the device maker to someday bring out an update to my operating system, IF they bother updating at all.
After 6 months samsung eventually released android 2.2 for the galaxy S and it actually BROKE peoples phones. Wiped out the internal memory, the memory card, everything! People had to give in their phones for repairs.
Quite a few android phones don't even get updates AT ALL.... A lot of phones are still stuck on 1.6
So the custom roms being your only hope for a newer OS is in the same boat as jailbreak. except that you don't get any official OS on your phone from the device maker.

So far the "choice" approach has only caused more fragmentation, therefore constraining the consumer more with their possible choice of apps cause not all android apps work on ALL versions of the OS and not ALL hardware variations...???
But giving me the best (and only) iphone from it's release, and keeping the platform integrated, I my choice of 360000 apps isn't constrained at all...
For what you're getting with an apple device, I'd hardly say it's over priced.

Having only one choice has alot of benefits.

And the fact that the OS first has to be adapted by the hardware manufacturer is exactly the problem and cause of all the fragmentation.
MANY android device don't even receive updates at all.
On the other hand, when apple releases an update, its still the same OS. It stays iOS, and doesn't become a different variant of the OS.

dont worry about the haters.. haters gona hate.. at the end of the day it was Apple that made a truly remarkable device in the iphone 4,its iphone perfected. Apple deserves credit really and apparently the iPhone 5 will have the A5 processor which is a Dual Core chip thats already in the iPad 2 *thumbs up*
