Anyone else being charged a life and disability insurance cover on their credit card?
 
It's usually mandatory and either included in the fees or separately billed.
 
Just a note. The Capitec pay now option does not carry your reference that you enter to the beneficiary statement.

I paid my rent like that and so they said I never paid and after forwarding the proof of payment they said the reference does not show at their side.

Now they charging me R250 for late payment and R150 for tracing fee because there is no reference even though my proof of payment sent directly from Capitec to them has all the info on.

Just Properties.... :mad:
 
Thanks for the heads up. Keep sending them that proof of payment showing date and reference. Don't pay the penalties. Tell them to bill Capitec...

That's bad and needs to be fixed. They can't legally do that though as you did pay on time.

Yeah I'm dealing with them. Just Properties Centurion is the WORST agency you can think of. Renewal of a lease carries a R1000 fee. R100 credit vet fee again. If you vacate you are charged R350 for them to inspect. Charged R75 from your deposit as a processing fee. WTF they are the worst I would never rent from Just Properties EVER again!

They might be able to charge the owner that...

Reading the Rental Housing Act might be useful... (You can also take disputes to the Rental Housing tribunal)

(That might make sense to split into a separate thread...)

It's bad that Capitec messed up a reference, but your property agent sounds super ****. Tracing fee? What the **** is the point of their admin department. Just looks they charge for anything they can get away with.

It is so morons are less incentivised to put "Rent" as their reference. Is it that difficult to put your unit number in a text box?
If you have to deal with 100s of properties in a complex, all it takes is 5 people to put "rent" on the deposit to waste hours of the poor accountant's time.

If you read cavedog's post he does use the correct reference, but Capitec's immediate deposit overwrites it. While I agree that people should use the correct reference number, I think that charging an admin fee is extreme, especially since the tenant tends to call the rental agency and give them the actual transaction details when something goes wrong. It's not as if rental agents start looking for stray transactions when your rent isn't received.

Not to mention the reference can go missing with interbank transfers as well. Had this stupid situation with Nedbank which is used by Uniforum. For some reason they include a bank reference as well and with the field like only 20 characters long it truncated one of the invoices and allocated my payment to a historic invoice.

Stupid cow working there didn't want to listen and simply kept repeating they can't fix payments older than 30 days. So I ended up deleting and registering the domain for the next year as I wasn't going to pay for it again.
 
Yes so I transfered from Capitec and pay now feature to an ABSA account and on their statement it shows like this "IMMEDIATE TRF CRCAPITEC A SETTLEMENT "

I fully understand Cavedog's situation and I think it is unfair as there is proof that the reference number is correct. The management company should credit his account.

If you don't put a fine on it, there is no punishment for people wasting the time of the people in the management company, which ends up costing everyone who is using the services of the company.
 
I used the PAY NOW function for the first time today. I sent some funds across to my FNB account. The reference I set on the Capitec side is shown on my FNB internet banking transaction list - worked fine. I used Capitec WEB and not the App.

@Supersunbird - did you use App or Web?
 
Did instant transfer from website today to my FNB account, shows correct reference for payment as entered on the Capitec website.

I have a code dongle so no app usage for me.
