So I decided to try the M-Web uncapped and signed up last Tuesday afternoon. I got the log-in details and went home and tried it. Didn't work. By then they had gone home. Got the correct log-in details the next morning and signed up. An hour later I get an e-mail saying if you have DSTV and want to sign up for M-Web, you get three months free. So I call M-Web and they told me that I am already an M-Web member. I remind them I am a month to month member, this way they would gain. But they just laugh and say sorry.

OK, so this weekend I decide to download some items. My speed drops to 700b/s!!! I mean, hallo! Close down the site and try to download something else. Same problem. Very very low speed. So I change the modem settings back to Telkom and the speed for downloading shoots up to 100 kB/s. I change it back to Mweb and it goes way down again! Now I'm frustrated as I've got uncapped, but can't download!

So thinking that I am on a month to month contract, I could possibly cancel by the 10th of November. Wrong! Only end of November. Soooooooooooooo frustrating!

Bad experience - won't want to use them again anytime soon!

Hey well... it's Mweb, what do you expect. I happen to have a uncapped account for free. I never use the account as its painful. Secondly I'm still waiting for a password reset, it's been 2 months now...

Yeah there were major speed/international problems this weekend, it seems to have resolved itself though.

Surely with any contract you have a week cooling off period? The product doesn't live up to what you expected, so you should be able to cancel with immediate effect?

I'd push that route, maybe he should PM the Mweb reps for a response on this.

I asked about that - was told no, it's not a contract and there's no cool-off period. Sounds fishy to me.

How can they bill from the middle of the month, but not cancel in the middle of the month?

If its not a contract then you can just tell them to stuff off as you don't have a contract with them :p

Well, you did inadvertently pick the weekend on which there was a problem with Seacom which seems to mainly (but not only) affect MWeb...

Dear Shads

Please note that your technical query is related to the SEACOM outage and I will ensure you are provided the assistance required, as per our telecom.

Kind regards, MWEB Guy

I love Mweb, I just think you joined at the most crappiest time seeing the Seacom cables went down again the very weekend you tried to download. Trust me when its up again you'll be downloading 450KB/s again in no time.

Thanks for the call MWeb guy. Look forward to hearing from Mweb regarding the sign-up process.

I'll wait and see once it is up and running again to see what kind of speed I'm getting.

I dont like Mweb... i fell for that deal of 2 months free for the 6 month contract.
they are just stupid and dont let me get started on their call centre.
they billed for the first 2 months in the first month when it was supposed to be free, it cost me so much time and effort to go back to canal walk and call them to reverse the charges.

YOh!!! was i pissed off.
now with this whole seacom debacle, i called them if they can suspend my account till they resolve it, i mean why should i still be paying for 1mb uncapped line when i am not even getting 20kb/s.
My bandwidth is being wasted and so it my money.

Shads u would have been better with telkom as an ISP. Cause they (Mweb) refused to even consider a pro rata refund for lack of internet usage on peoples account.

Fair enough its not their fault but i still expect good service and good value for my money!

Its not good business practice to be honest... I just wish i knew how to use CPA against them for this.
