...to give the company a certification (or something) from a doctor that I'm hard of hearing.

Really? After 10+ years of working for the same company??

Why.......seems you are lately not listening when the boss tells you to pull your finger. ;):D
Is that why you are thinking of looking for new job as mentioned in the Telkom thread?

I say you swing the banhammer at that droid the next time it comes into visual range. That'll teach 'em some manners and respect for the elderly.

If the company is going to pay for the examination you should comply with the request.
People with other disabilities will probably also be asked to submit proof of their disability if it's not already on record.

HR systems generally require documentation if the employee is listed to have any of a number of conditions or disabilities.

Also adds to their BBBEE scorecard - extra points for employees with disabilities. However they must be able to substantiate it, hence the request for medical proof.

Reminds me of that joke that went like this:

An old married couple are attending church one Sunday morning when half way through the vicars sermon the wife says to the husband, "I've just let out a long, sweaty, silent fart, what should I do?"
The husband replies, "You should replace the battery in your hearing aid!"

Made an appointment for Wednesday, will give company the bill together with the certificate and see what happens.

They are trying to get some kind of disability quota thing out of you.

Just tell them they haven't made it an official sport yet so you can't get a certificate for it.
