it's definately not better. or something odd is going on. here's what i'm experiencing:
i connect and for about half an hour or so - surfing and play City of Heroes (for which i need low loss)
I can connect to two towers - 82 and 12.
12 has always been crappy when it comes to speed, 82 is TONS faster (relative term) than 12, so I tend to connect to that. Last week 12 wasn't that bad (again, i use the term "not that bad" VERY loosely), so I stayed on that. Until I upgraded the firmware on my modem Friday night. 12 was great for my game then(no loss), but k@k for browsing. 82 on the other hand is great for browsing (for the aforementioned 30 minutes or so) but not too good (again, relative term) for playing my game.
So, I had a thought(yes, i have them from time to time

): I'm getting lots of loss on 82 + 4.1.8 removes the ping loss = 82 hasn't been upgraded to 4.1.8.
So, I phoned the Call Centre and asked Tristan to find out for me if 82 has been upgraded - and low and behold... it hasn't...
sooooo... upgrade the bloody thing so i can play my freakin' game you stupid bunch of MORONS!!!
there... i feel better now...
as for the half an hour "decent" speed before it degrades into the slums - *shrug*
if i disconnect and reconnect, it's fine again for half an hour...
this is beyond me... honestly... Rocket Science makes more sense!
