Must say, I got way better results last night on Tower 12...anyone else wishes to share their experiences (especially the so-called 1%)?

tower 12 last night was superb.

but today it's usual 20 - 26KB/s range.
well for me anyway, know lots of ppl have plenty
to say about tower 12.

Same here mvh ... I was blown away last evening ... rock solid 15.5 odd now ... average down to about 6.5 .. multiple sources multiple locations ... so not server congestion ...

Damn... I actually thought things were getting sorted.... Optimist ... I know ;-)

128k package.
Since 1am today, I have been able to manage an average of 8.6K/s from oracle.com. This is compared to the 3/4K/s from earlier this week.

Will test from more sites in about 4 hours...

i wish i could say the same... on 12 or 82 - it runs okay for about 5 minutes (if that long) then degrades to a snail's pace again... horrible. :(

has anyone else noticed that they can send at huge rates ?
using mlnet, and the thing was sending at full capacity.
if i am suposed to belive the graph it's at 35K - 40K wich
is a skewed i am sure, but still means it has no problems sending.

just downlowding isn't up to scrtach ;P but still reasonable.

is tower 12 physically on the mintec tower ?

I have not tested upload... but my download has dropped from 9K/s to 4K/s from the same oracle.com site as before...

if i knew where it was, i would go and burn it down. it would be of more use then, as a bonfire!

speeds are still CRAP!!!

they have ONE day left before i TOTALLY loose it...

Tower 12 is the Mintek building just off Hans Strydom in Strijdom Park.

There's a Marron Water tank (it think its water) about 100m away from the actual Mintek building (useful to know when pointing your Patch). If you are gonna do it, take care of Dept of Internal Affairs too (left of the Mintek blg entrance) :-)

It's not Fixed.

I have personally pointed 9 People away from the Mywireless Service, and I have been with them for 2 months. I have 22 months left to referr people away from this horrible service.

/f... Sentech till the day they improve the service or I die.

it's definately not better. or something odd is going on. here's what i'm experiencing:

i connect and for about half an hour or so - surfing and play City of Heroes (for which i need low loss)

I can connect to two towers - 82 and 12.

12 has always been crappy when it comes to speed, 82 is TONS faster (relative term) than 12, so I tend to connect to that. Last week 12 wasn't that bad (again, i use the term "not that bad" VERY loosely), so I stayed on that. Until I upgraded the firmware on my modem Friday night. 12 was great for my game then(no loss), but k@k for browsing. 82 on the other hand is great for browsing (for the aforementioned 30 minutes or so) but not too good (again, relative term) for playing my game.

So, I had a thought(yes, i have them from time to time :) ): I'm getting lots of loss on 82 + 4.1.8 removes the ping loss = 82 hasn't been upgraded to 4.1.8.

So, I phoned the Call Centre and asked Tristan to find out for me if 82 has been upgraded - and low and behold... it hasn't...

sooooo... upgrade the bloody thing so i can play my freakin' game you stupid bunch of MORONS!!!

there... i feel better now...

as for the half an hour "decent" speed before it degrades into the slums - *shrug*

if i disconnect and reconnect, it's fine again for half an hour...

this is beyond me... honestly... Rocket Science makes more sense!

Kai, just a thought, when u connect, and speed drops, are you possibly seeing any caught errors on the connection, maybe there is a lot of error correction happening after half an hour of activity, hence the slowdown.
This is probably nonsense, Coz I just checked the connection settings, and the modem has error correction off, but another thought, maybe turning it on might help?

Rodent, since you have such a through knowledge of the modems workings, care to comment on the topic of error correction?
this is a rather off topic request, but If anyones really feeling up to it, my understanding of wi-fi / 3G is a bit shaky, out of curiosity, how do these systems handle packet collisions, since the channels are so broad, is this even an issue?

Good day,

Could you please bear with us, as the maintenance is still on and the confirmation on when that will be done has not been determined as yet?

Kind regards

hehe, well, The nice thing about your situations is that you can turn down people, and not by just saying, you can actually show them :)

So has Kai burst yet ?
