So this just happened...

Fine, those poor little bastids are in imminent danger. OP you have the number plate and proof. I suggest you do the right thing and report this to the nearest police station and/or child services.

What is your issue with the OP? It's dangerous, and perhaps may make a person or two here think a bit. I fully support pointing out reckless driving practice. Do you support drinking and driving? Or does this seem a lot less irresponsible?

It would be nice to keep the people unidentifiable though.

I wonder if they'll do anything about it? Doubt it, to be honest. For instance it's hard to verify when the picture was taken, etc.
They don't enforce much of anything these days, bar speeding. Then prepare yourself for some hurt.

You had a good post until you asked if I support drinking and driving. What's the point in pointing out reckless driving if not to the offenders or the authorities? And don't say awareness - if you are a parent that don't know what is safe for your child then a post on the internet is not gonna help.

Well you can be sure they'll do it again. If you took the pic the original will contain metadata if the daytime on your camera/phone was correct.

It's trivial to modify metadata. Hopefully someone that's knows them sees this picture and shames the chops.

Forensic guys are smart enough to figure it out. But I totally get it.

Wife took the picture. Funny how lots here defend putting your kids in such unnecessary danger. I can only assume you don't have kids. There's a difference between innocent fun, and just being stupid.

P.S people don't only die on the freeway. Drive down old JHB and hendrik verwoerd it's littered with little crosses.

The point is dont be a stick in the mud.

Its child abuse IMO. Same as sitting in the front seat with a seat belt on, and you have a toddler in your lap. I just dont get it. Might as well give the kids a loaded gun (with the safety on of course), to play with. What are the odds of something going wrong. Each to his/her own I guess.

I think people need to find hobbies instead of fault with everything everybody else does.
If a taxi is your concern then nobody should let their children cross any road even if they are holding their hands.

you do know there are laws now that states children need to be in child seats.

Are you and Hamster nuts?

This is extremely irresponsible and this type of behaviour should be discouraged.

You get into a car, buckle up and stay on your arse until you reach your destination (or pit stop).

Only fools and idiots will condone this stupidity.

The whole thing started when he said they would be decapitated and kinda went from there.

You ever had to clean up bits of children off the side of the road?

No?

Then STFU

Yes...well no, but I've seen a child get knocked over by a taxi once. GLAD we sorted that out.

I don't condone putting children in harm's way, if that is where this is going. OP took the pick and posted it online - to what point?

Actually I'm over it. You are just going to say "awareness". Well in that case print it out and put it on a billboard.

Well you have no problem with what this driver was doing, so either you do condone putting them in harms way, or you didn't consider this putting them in harms way. If it's the second case (doubt it's the first), then you clearly now do realize it (or at least I hope you do). In which case, the thread has been a success.

Now imagine someone that allows their kids to do this happens to read this thread. They might just get the idea into their heads that it's a really bad idea! Will it save their kids life? Maybe, maybe not. If they happen to convince those around them that it is dangerous, then we might get somewhere.

I happen to think that this is more effective than a billboard as people can engage.

This thread has turned upside down for me and my simple comment (which is valid as a general comment) got more attention than i thought. I'm posting things I do not 100% agree with (I can sense I'm about to be sucked in deeper).

So because of that I'll concede - those parents are in the wrong and any awareness is better than nothing.

People seem to fail horribly at understanding that a car qualifies as "heavy machinery" and that all the same rules apply.
