you being a chick makes much more sense now...

Why do you have to "put your two cents in"... but it's only a "penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?

Hi folks

After receiving a few complaints and having a good look at the topic it was quite clear that it was serving no real purpose apart from creating a flaming platform….hence the deletion. I usually allow for open discussion and even some criticism but the topic under discussion was going a bit too far…

Ok RPM,
You right in doing so, and my appologies for caousing noncense, however I felt that Mr Dean H, has actually taken advantge of this forum by openly soliciting busiens for personal gain,
whch would be uderstandable if Mr. Dean H actually holds stake in this forum, or has arangements with rigthfull owners of forum to do so for fee or otherwise.

By act of deleting the post seams like y9ou making a statment to Mr Dean H, that soliciting of busines and advertising is not alowed, or to be negotiated?

And if I have pushed the limits of tolerance, I appologise and will be on my best behaviour form now on.[:I]

I'm only a blonde, or "chick" as noone eloquently put it. Even though i resent his observation as term if used in derogatory manner implies female inferiorty and unequalty of sexes. I trust his remark was used in no such manner.

Latest news brake, 19th century is over, slavery and unequalty of sexes has been abolished in most modern societies.

LOL... yeah I noticed it disappeared. I was just miff because someone personally attacked me, and I posted a loooonnnggg reply. Literally, 30 seconds after posting it, the whole thread disappeared.

I'd like to make a suggestion regarding the forums... would it not be a good idea to keep an eye on what users post; if their posts NEVER serve any real purpose (such as relevant information regarding towers, contracts, connection speeds, and so on), why not warn them and if they still post rubbish then ban them?

There is for example a user who only ever posts messages to the detriment of someone else. I'm sure we all know who I am referring to. I know of someone who'<b>dd</b> definately be a first candidate.

As for soliciting business.. well, Dean (like myself) is trying to make some money. I think that as long as you in general contribute something worthwhile to the forum with the (RARE) message about for example, supplying someone that needs an ethernet cable, then it's not a huge problem. But I do agree, Dean's other thread wasn't really appropriate. Going over the top is spamming, which just defeats the object of these forums.

/me *slaps* all posters going off at a tangent - the "When and Why?" of this forum:

"MyADSL was formed in 2003 to serve as a source of information and a place where broadband users can discuss issues openly and share information. In addition to serving its basic function MyADSL will work with relevant organizations to try and improve the broadband Internet services in South Africa. We are therefore a true South African Broadband Users Group."

Hi guys

I have never had to ban anybody from our forums. In the past there were some members where the language used were somewhat inappropriate and where a warning was in order, but generally the moderators try to keep the forums quite relaxed. We are truly lucky that practically all of the members are here for the same purpose and that the tone of the forums is generally professional and respectable. I usually inform people when deleting a topic/posting but in this case I was simple too lazy to inform everybody that posted :-) As a moderator I do not like to delete any postings or topics but it needs to be done from time to time…

In the other thread we are trying to solve the advertising issue. I never want these forums to become an area where people openly advertise goods or services, but members can definitely benefit from such knowledge. A tricky situation and your views will be welcome in the other topic.

RPM
