So what is actually wrong With Zuma?

If your leader thinks 3rd world how can you expect 1st world progress and results?

South Africa is not a 1st world country by a very long shot. It never was, even under apartheid.

Although Zuma has not won an election, the ANC has.

If you aspire to be a 1st world country, then the first step is being democratic. Most South Africans don't know what democracy is. They seem think if the majority don't vote for your choice, then it isn't democracy.

The White whinges in SA only focus the "blackness" of the govt and choose to draw racial lines on all arguments. This strengthens the positions of racists within the ANC and say things like "look at the whites. They complain only about crime against farmers, White joblessness. They don't care about other races." then you get people like Malema, Zuma .

Well all presidents promise wonderfull things and do not deliver. Oh that goes for Barack Obama he is doing such a great job:rolleyes:

Most presidents are lairs and cheats. All governments are just out there to feed the top dogs. The rest of us all suffer.

While I don't entirely disagree, I was just recounting the conversation I happened to have had.

I am not sure what Obama has done to offend you so much, but there are definitely governments in the world that are not only out to benefit themselves to the utter detriment of the country they are charged with running.

Sure, I just think we should use a better yardstick. My gardener could have done a better job than Mbeki.

because he was the last president

Do you not want 1st world countries broadband?

South Africa is not a 1st world country by a very long shot. It never was, even under apartheid.

What on earth is that? You are 2 expressions behind!

The terms "1st world" and "3rd world" are EXTREMELY outdated.

The terms were changed a few times already and the current acceptable descriptions are "emerged" and "emerging" economies.

I am telling you this for your own good - we don't want the two of you to embarass yourselves in company :D

What is actually right with Zuma?
1. His intervention calmed bloody conflicts in Burundi and the KZN midlands.
2. Played a crucial role in the liberation of South Africa as head of ANC intelligence.
3. Outwitted and outmaneuvered a complex conspiracy against him hatched by the most powerful politicians and prosecutors in the land.
4. Despite all the challenges that resulted from Polokwane Zuma led the ANC to a comprehensive victory in the general elections.
5. Steered the ANC out of its most difficult conflict after many leaders and members defected to COPE.
6. Overcome a lot of doubts and pessimism to lead SA in the successful hosting of the first ever World Cup on African soil.
6. His administration managed to ride the storm of the economic recession better than most countries.
7. Under his administration SA has attracted and continues to attract a lot of foreign investment. eg. Vodafone-Vodacom, Walmart-Massmart, Standard Bank-Chinese Bank, Barclays-ABSA, Japanese Telecoms giant-Dimension Data etc.

To say the least. :)

This is going to be good.

So true. The whole race thing works for ANC. The more white people see "black" as a problem, and black people see "white" as a problem, the ANC will always win come the elections - since 70% of SA is "black".

Mien got... I brought out the fanboys

It’s not a ‘race thing’ at the root. It’s a culture thing. Whites have no interest in adopting black ‘kulcha’ and vice versa. Blacks fall into the repulsive black ‘kulcha’. Things like ancestor worship, toyi-toyi, littering, immorality, black magic, backyard slaughter, etc. I am white and those repel me hence I have NO interest in adopting any black values because I do not sympathise and IMO they all suck.

Zuma used his political power to sidestep his corruption charges. Anything he does after that is null & void.

Littering dude ... seriously? How misinformed are you?

Not much as I see it.

He is talking about the strikers - their idea of protest is to dump rubbish everywhere and leave it for someone else to clean up.

Littering is not a cultural thing, it is done by everybody. He also referred to the repulsive black "kulcha" and used littering as an example of this. If littering makes your culture repulsive then all cultures are repulsive.

It is misinformed (to be diplomatic) to believe that only blacks litter.

Littering is inaccurate (my bad) and too mild a word.

This is all true but wasn’t what I was thinking of. By ‘littering’ I do not mean dropping a bus ticket. It’s the plastic Checkers & P&P bags blowing willy-nilly around townships. The dearth of public bins to dispose of litter, the lack of services to empty the bins and the ‘kulcha’ that accepts littering as normal. It relates to other kulcharal stuff as well.

I saw on TV a group of entitled mining hostel blacks complaining about their ablution facilities (pore us – look what the wicked white mining management provide). The toilet was disgusting. The mining management didn’t provide it like that (a major effort anyway), it was created by kulcha. A white, all male Eurocentric culture would have, at least, cleaned it up (no money spent), sanctioned unthinking users who created a mess and complained bitterly (early on) to the management if the facilities were in any way inadequate. Not left it to fester into a toxic dump and then play the ‘pore us’ race card.

A difference between culture and kulcha.
