So what is wrong with Windows Mobile?

I agree with this comment. Symbian is more intuitive ... functions are where you expect them to be ... no hunting for settings/configs. I find WinMo very frustrating in this aspect ... looking for stuff ... fidling to get things done. I want things to happen fast.

I agree with you 100%.

Having swapped from symbian to WM recently (Nokia 6110 to HTC P3300) I'm very happy. It's like there's something I've been missing all the time with my phones and now I have it :D Cheesy but true ;)

It works like a PC, syncs flawlessly with my outlook and does everything I need. The P3300 is one of the older phones so isn't helluva fast (211mhz) but it works perfectly for me. I won't be swapping back to symbian unless they make some big inroads into customizability, 3rd party stuff and functionality in general.

I've got an HTC Vox S710, WM6.1. I'm more than happy with it, although the phone has a slowish 201mHz processor. I believe the S740 has a 500Mhz CPU, which will make it awesome. Basically, for me there's nothing wrong with WM6.1.

I have gone from Symbian platform to WM and I could not be happier.

I really liked the Symbian platform while I was using it. I was even trying to be critical f WM when the device arrived. However I can honestly say that I am impressed. Dont know if that's because the X1 is fast or WM is good, but either way I find it too be excellent.

When it was reported at the end of 2008 that telecoms companies in the States were planning to drop WinMo support from their networks Microsoft themselves aknowledged that WinMo is not what it should be - that they know what is wrong with it - and that version 7 and 8 will fix it (as published on gsmarena). I'd stay away from WinMo until version 7 comes out.

Personally I am happy with WM6.1. It's a bit sluggish due to the phone's slow processor, but on my old 7610 Symbian was just as slow.

The X1 is the only WM phone i'd consider getting. Great phone.

Yeah I'm looking forward to 7 & 8 as there are some issues with WM (highlighted in the link) that I'd like to see fixed. That said though, I'm not looking forward to buying the new phones that have 7 on them :D

i swore by symbian and only when sony ericsson went WM did i give it a try. my x1 is solid, fast, fun, and its a MACHINE. loving my new WM experience.

my 3g iphone is gathering dust

Was wondering when the new WM OS comes out can we update the WM on our devices or are you only able to have the original Wm version on your phone???

i also had that feeling, but hope they give the option because if new WM has some added features it would be cool if can just update the current WM OS.... but sure that will require me giving money to the big M$ machine!!!

Cash is indeed king :D

It all depends on personal taste, you like a windows interface and a windows feel to your gadgets, then you would love WM, everything has pros and cons to them.

I started with nokia, and from there on I hated symbian 60, it was buggy and slow as hell, completely ruined the os for me, moved on to ericsson and worked with symbian uiq, which was a revelation and buried nokia for me completely.

From there I moved to an imate and wm5, did not have real problems with the os, but I think the phone itself soured wm for me, went back to ericsson and uiq, and now I am on iphone (osx), currently I love the iphone's os, especially the ease in which you can delve into the os itself

But again, its all up to personal opinion

I'm currently a SE UIQ user and I'm not convinced about Symbian. I've used Series 60 phones and they're ok I guess. Last week I tried the X1 and was blown away. It has a good interface and was just as fast as my SE P1 with more flexibility. iPhone is pretty but has stupid limitations... e.g. why can't I receive a business card via sms FFS?

Well you know in wm 5 you also cannot receive a business card via sms right? You can only send and receive vcards.

Iphone now has the same thing, called a mycard (still in an early phase but works)
