Socket LGA775 Motherboard + DDR3

Right

So the world is full of socket LGA775 motherboards supporting DDR, DDR2, DDR2+DDR3, DDR3 ... but I am struggling to get my hands on a DDR3 variant in good old SA.

Sent out an APB and so far the responses look like this:
Nivo.co.za: Nein
Computersonly.co.za: Nein
Compugeeks.co.za: Nein

Any pointers/help/secondhand&forgotten stock/tips would be appreciated.

Gibabyte GA-G41M Combo supports DDR2 & DDR3, computergeeks claims to have stock but I'd check first as it's quite an old board.

I got one from http://www.prophecy.co.za/ two years back for R400. I tried to check if they still have but I couldn't get on to the site.

Yea, that was a no go. Their website has not been updated in 300 years.

OP, you can find plenty of LGA775 boards supporting DDR3 being swapped around Carbonite forums. I saw a trade for a Intel X48 board a while back, must have been two months or so ago. There are people getting rid of their Core 2 builds for Haswell stuff especially at this time of year to support their CUD.

You can try TVR, I attend a roadshow of thiers and they said they are bring in some LGA775 motherbroads. I think they were ASUSRock. if they still have stock. no idea.

ASRock? Reviews on newegg suggest that one tries to stay away from their G41 range - the exact range with the 775+ddr3 combo I seek.

Been using 2 Asrock G41 boards for many years now with no issues. Also got many friends using them without any problems.

Yea they did! I asked them about the limitations on the boards and was informed that the boards will only work with Patriot and Transcend memory. I followed the call up with an email with the details of the call, did my EFT for two boards, informed my clients that they will need some DDR3 Patriot or Transcend memory and the boards were delivered to me on Tuesday 13/01.

From the date we got the boards till today:
We have tested both boards with any permutation we could think of using these: 3 CPUs, 3 PSUs, 3 DDR3 Ram sticks, 2 GFX cards and each time the result was the same. We asked micropoint for help with i.a the beep codes. I even called J&W in China ... but my Chinese failed me as they understand -14.66% English.

After a lot of emails and some worrying silence from micropoint in between we got a response on Friday 23/01 after they recreated the problem. I apologize about the Transcend and Patriot story but it seems to me that it is a bit of a "hit and miss" story with the memory - the patriot memory we have here is also not working now.

Since then it has been nothing from silence coming from Micropoint.

Deeply disappointed with Micropoint at this stage.

Hmmm, so then I might be acquainted with you... I checked through most suppliers and stock on 775's are hard to come by in the Western Cape. Charles may be able to assist you as they have agreements all over the place, and better pricing if you are a dealer with them

That still leaves me with RAM that I cannot use and obtained specifically on their instruction.

When did you order the RAM or is it your client's current RAM? Pending on your scenario as with your other thread:

The supplier later admitted that the DDR3 support on the boards are a hit and a miss affair after they managed to recreate the problem we've been having using exactly the RAM they said we should.

Request a swop out, pending on the supplier's policy and rules set therein. The CPA will also side with you as the RAM isn't working as it is expected to, don’t go with the CPA route yet, and resolve the issue with the supplier in accordance with the fault report.

The client bought brand new DDR3 Patriot RAM on my recommendation (based on the limitations given by Micropoint) on kalahari because he had credit on his profile or something.

That is between you and your client, you do have 3 options:

1. Use the RAM on a new motherboard
2. Test the RAM on a replacement/repaired motherboard (RMA'd)
