SALARY : R337,720.95 - R450,294.60 - Negotiable with Qualification & Experience
Purpose of the job
To design, develop / customise, test, release, maintain and enhance integrated applications in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government.
Key Responsibility Areas
Ensure effective and efficient service delivery in accordance with CLIENT Policy framework.
Adherence to Architectural and Governance mechanisms for the Software Development section to improve interoperability of government systems and quality of services and deliverables.
Deliver services according project plans and architectural and governance mechanisms to ensure overall compliance and improved service delivery.
Develop and maintain integrated Technical Service Specifications for single or multiple software components to clearly set direction for procuring or building software components.
Develop / customise secure and integrated IT software components using CLIENT’s software development stack / development framework.
Maintain integrated IT software components using CLIENT’s software development stack / development framework.
Participate in execution of comprehensive software test activities in accordance with CLIENT Test Methods and Testing Techniques using CLIENT approved Testing Tools.
Participate in packaging and releasing of integrated IT software components in accordance with ICT standards and the enterprise architecture for Government.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum requirements: National Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (Software Development) and/ or equivalent. Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in the ICT field, including systems development, implementation and maintenance / enhancements of solutions in the corporate/public sector organisation. The experience must include 2-4 years software development and JAVA/J2EE environment.

Knowledge of: Corporate and ICT Governance and Compliance; Programming Languages; Development, Implementation and Integration Methodologies, including Testing, Packaging and Release; IT Quality Management; ICT Procurement practices; IT Security and ICT Standards; COTS (Commercial of the Shelf) and OSS Products; Project Management; Application development, enhancement and maintenance practices. Expertise on: Object Orientation programming; Agile and Waterfall Methodologies; Distributed Architectures/Service Orientated Architectures; FOSS Products; Planning and Organising. Behavioural Competencies: Initiative and Innovation; Business Acumen; Customer Service; People Management; Negotiations; and Communication. Skills: Development (e.g. .NET Framework, Java Framework, Other IDE); Security (Software and Technologies); Portal (e.g. HTML, CSS, JAVA scripting, Portlets with various integrations) ; Interfacing and Integration (Middleware Technologies); Development methodologies (e.g. RUP, OpenUp, Agile); Standards (e.g. ISO\IEC12207); Quality Management (e.g. ISO9001, CMMI); Entity Relationship Diagrams; IT Software Testing, Packaging and Release; UML; and RDBMS usage including Object Relational Mapping tools and practices.
Other Special Requirements
The incumbent will be required to travel to other CLIENT offices around the country.
