software for a computer workshop

hi there guys,i work for a local computer store in east london,and we looking for a sort of software for our workshop, so we can book in/out jobs and keep track of customers eg: phone numbers,if she had a previous jobs in the workshop and what it was in for.we basically using job books now and find it unreliable,as staff looses it or gets thrown away.
is there anything like that?

ps:must be freeware if possible

Have a look at sugarcrm the free version. It would give you a history of the clients which by the sound of it is what you are looking for

Sugar CRM is a very good free management system.

They do have a paid version, but the community edition works just as good.
