Hey guys,

So my company has decided to put up a plasma screen at our reception which will be used to welcome specific customers coming through on that day and to serve as a marketing tool where we can display new products etc that we produce. The secretary will be in charge of updating the board each day. Is there any recommended software we should use to drive this other than powerpoint? I would like to have a ticker scrolling at the bottom showing news and exchange rates and display the current weather as well which obviously cannot be done through powerpoint.

Thanks!

MediaPlate - Digital Signage

Hi Ice2Cool,

Regarding your Digital Signage query, have a look at my company website:

www.mediaplate.tv

The web-based MediaPlate software will easily cater to your needs.
There is an explanatory video on the site, as well as a contact form should you have any further queries.

Kind regards,
Adrian Schoeman.

Hi There,
If you want to do the work yourself then the web site route is an option.
If you want a plug and play approach then Mediaplate looks good.

Regards

Tim

Apache on the secretary's machine can sort that out easily.

Yup, but does the secretary know how Apache works so she can maintain it on her machine if something goes wrong or decides to switch off her machine?

With a powerpoint presentation (as an example) could live off of their file server (assuming they have one) and wouldn't be bound to the secretaries machine at all, and she can still update that file if she wants

I think website is better then software? If you can't afford your own website, then you can use other social site like facebook and twitter. where you can display your products and customers can reached there and buy easily.

Digital signage is something like a big-assed monitor you put somewhere, you know, like at malls or spar's where there's tv's advertising their products.

their idea isn't to sell products really, their idea is to have a big-assed monitor/tv at their offices as you walk in, and the secretary would then, for the important clients, have something ready to cater to their individual needs. Like "Whats up your Chinese mother****ers, we LOVE you!" etc (crude example, but should drive the point across quite quickly)

This is totally different to just having a website and advertising through social media to sell a product.
