Hi all. I am currently struggling at home with my internet connection at home as I am the only one who knows how the connection works (not the most complex of setups I must add) and when I am not at home, everything just bombs out for no reason!

My current setup is:
ADSL2+ router with WiFi (Set to bridged mode)
4 Nodes connected to router via WiFi
All nodes connected to net via PPPoE

Now my question is: Is there any available software out there to automate internet connections via a simple program that is possibly portable? I just want to be able to go to school for a week or go away on a scout camp for 3 days without being bugged by my family trying to either A) configure another computer to connect to the internet or B) figure out why the internet isn't working.

Remove bridge mode. Set it to PPPoE and give each user/ node the wireless user name and pass.

The DSL/ Network shouldn't bomb unless Telkom goes down in your area.

ja, why are you using PPPoE on each computer? Are the logins to different accounts?

If they are all for the same account, then just use normal mode on the router.

A few years back I got rid of all my wireless crap. I ran cables through the ceiling. Been much happier since. No security issues either. I'm not a big fan of wireless. Always falling over.

I unfortunately do a lot of local only downloading so I use RouteSentry and use three accounts (Intl/Local/Emergency bandwidth once I've been capped on other two). I also unfortunately have to use wireless as I live in an apartment so I am unable to use cables as I have no ceiling to run them through.

1) You don't mention what keeps happening. Surely it seems like something keeps getting reset? I've set up systems for people that, 4 years on, are still using the same details with no problems. Perhaps a dodgy piece of equipment somewhere?

2) Are you using Windows? If so, you can save the configuration for recreation on other hosts. That should save you some hassle. Of course, writing down the wireless passphrase and DSL username/password isn't too tough either. Neither is following a wizard.

3) To revisit point (1), is it the wireless or the PPPoE that bombs?

1) Either someone is visiting and needs to connect to the network and needs to know how to set up the connection for the wireless OR the bandwidth runs out on one ADSL account and needs to be switched over to the other OR my Dad's laptop cannot connect to the wireless connection for some odd reason

2) Windows XP and Windows 7 are used in the house

3) My parents and sister have no problems with the PPPoE whatsoever because it's just a simple procedure to connect. Another problem is my parents accidentally putting extra characters in the username and/or password box of the PPPoE connection which messes everything up.
