Hey guys...

We have some clients with specific software needs, and I'm investigating various options for them.

If anyone has some experience with these type of packages, any advice would be appreciated.

1. Web based accounting package
Preferably with payroll, stock, invoicing, quoting etc. Basically so that all employees from 3 different branches and roaming users can use the system. Some additional functionality such as CRM and business process management would be a nice optional extra. It would also help if it supports South African industry standards and local tax tables.

If you mention Pastel, you're disqualified :p

2. Employee Activity Monitoring
Something that will allow management to check which websites employees are visiting, what programs they are using, ability to monitor and maybe even regulate email usage etc. Basically spying on employees :D This might even end up being two packages, and is intended to protect the company as they suspect employees of leaking confidential company information.

I have already looked at several packages, but input from people who have actually used it is always more valuable ;)

Okay here goes I'm disqualified :D

Because for problem 1 I would recommend Pastel Evolution  not really web based but does work fairly well over a VPN connection.
But does included the features you are after.

As for point to have a look at Ironport, there is a ton of these products out there. Every large corporate these days plays Big Brother.

!!DV!!...

Thanks for the info, but our clients don't want to use the system over a VPN, it has to be web-based, for various reasons. We are runnning Pastel at several clients, and as long as you pamper it and throw lots of money at redundancy and backup, it's almost an OK package :P

AK65...

A bit more info would be great, like the name of the package or a link.

Any other suggestions?

I've been looking at a package called Spector CNE for user monitoring, anyone know it?
