Good day everyone.

I am a high school IT teacher and am looking for 2 types of software.

1. Years ago I completed an I.C.D.L (International Computer Driver's License) during my university years. They used a simulation type software to grade the assessment. It opens Windows with Office in a complete virtual environment. It the assesses each action you take. If I needed to create a new new folder on the desktop, the program would assess every action I take. If I right clicked on the desktop, point to new and then left click on New Folder and give it the suggested name, If I performed all of the required steps correctly, I will automatically get full marks. If I make any mistakes, marks are deducted according to the "complexity" of the questions. The system grades the test completely automated and marks are shown as soon as you finish your test.

2. Is there an app (Android and Apple) that I can use to upload eBooks and tutorial videos, but they can only watch the video or read the book if they have access to the app. Something like the Kindle app where you have to pay for the content, but it can only be viewed by someone who has paid for the content and they cannot transfer the media to anyone else.

I hope this is the correct forum to asks such questions. I'm not expecting free software (it would be nice though), but I can always budget for it for my department.

Kind regards,
Willem Voigt

That software exists and it is pay to use. The whole point is that it is quite expensive to develop something like that. So you'd need to pay. The University of Pretoria used the same thing for their computer literacy course opt-out test when I started my degree in 2005. No idea what it is called, but I got the distinct impression you were hoping something like that would be free. And that is big fat nope. It'll cost money and not a small bit of money either

It is not 100% possible to do this. You are essentially giving someone the keys to the castle and trying to put barriers in place to stop them from ripping the content. If you don't trust me, think about this for a second. If Netflix, movie studies, etc. could do this, why aren't they doing it? They've been fighting this fight for years (remember the would you download a car adverts). You can make it difficult but not impossible. Unless they are only able to view on it devices which you control in a situation you control. Otherwise assume that it can be taken.

The easiest way to do this that I would try is to put these on a YouTube account. Then the videos are shared as unlisted (meaning you can't see them by searching or by looking at your account). Then remove it once the semester/day is over and re-share it again under a new link for the new day/semester whatever.

There are other flavours but the reason I favour that is because Youtubers use that mechanism with their Patron access.
Meaning with Patron you pay for exclusive content which they then get links to.

Anything more than that I expect you'll need to start paying money.

My 2c but maybe someone else has some better recommendations for you
