Is there fairly basic software that will seperate a male and female voice both speaking at the same time ?

Clip is in mp3 but I can convert to wav if needed.

I'm trying to transcribe something but it's almost impossible to hear what is said when two voices are talking simultaneously.

this is a technique for Audacity some compressor settings to try

To my mind it should be possible if you have the original recording as you may be able to differentiate using the balance depending on where the sound comes from. This is even beter if th voices were recorded on seperate channels. Once it is in mp3 format your a bit screwed though as I think it compresses the multiple channels into 2

This problem is not an easy one to solve, especially if the file has been compressed (to mp3). Uncompressing it (back to WAV) doesn't give you back the information you lost. Your best bet would be to use some filters to do what you want. Unless you feel like sifting through the audio, piece-by-piece, but that could take forever

there is only one way i know of from my studio days, and that is to get a frequency sampler. This will do the job...but where can you borrow one
