iPhone 4 iOS v6.1.3.
Just received notification that software update is available and ready to install. It is iOS 7.06 SSL security update (1.2GB).
I don't wish to install v7 on this phone for the obvious reason, but notification do not disappear from the Settings icon. It loooks like the only things preventing from installing automatically is no WiFi connection. How to stop instaling iOS7?

You have to jailbreak the phone and install a utility to get it to stop prompting you to upgrade.

Problem, there is no permanent jail breaking for this OS version.
As for Apple, the message is misleading. It is not security upgrade, but major OS change. I don't care for certificates, I don't use banking nor other secure access.

The phone will download the upgrade and store it on the phone whenever connected to wifi. You will, however, have to take action to actually install the upgrade to your phone.

You should jailbreak the phone then install Software Update Killer or similar to prevent you from making a blunder and hitting the install button.

Also make sure you have the 6.1.3 'blobs' saved and build yourself a custom firmware that you can get back to if anything nasty happens.

If you're talking about iOS 6.1.3 on iPhone 4, it is supported for untethered jailbreak. I'm not sure about iOS 7.06

This is what it told me the first time! I immediatelly switched off WiFi, as my WiFi is also on 3G Internet! Can't really these morons predict such condictions? It would eat my 200MB monthly allocation in few minutes.

I am also sick of iTunes. It downloaded upgrade to my copy of iBooks without my knowledge. It is for iOS7 exclusively. I removed it from the library, next time it downloaded again. Forcing me to jailbreak, even I resisted so far...

It was only tethered one last time checked. Will follow sticky thread and search again, if you have links by hand, I would appreciate.

Yes, I also only have cellular internet, luckily I got the Afrihost deal that makes it reasonably affordable.

I must warn you though that jailbreaking will probably not solve the problem of the phone downloading the upgrade when connected to wifi. Jailbreaking will however allow you to apply a tweak to prevent installation of the upgrade.

Some good info here, before you jailbreak:

Go here for jailbreak:
