Just saw this in Solar Assistant - a change in Ts and Cs - they are introducing paid software updates @ $14 USD per year - not too bad . Thoughts on this?

Won't be upgrading. Mines works well and nothing changes on the inverter battery side, so it ain't broke so no point fixing it

Don't need forecast capabilities in SA unless there could be some further automations one could run to do certain things. This is for those instances where HA is too complicated to run for the end user.

If they supported integration to Tuya devices where the additional inputs (LS/Grid outage/PV forecast) could do other things or even or backup of data to their cloud, it would make a sub a no brainer.

I have been on the beta update channel since I started using Solar Assistant and did not even notice this change in licensing.

I also only noticed it from a post on Powerforum then when i tried to update i got those screens

I paid R990 for my copy. Isn't that the full, package?
Yes. It's the full package.

Just to continue recieving updates (only) you may have to pay a fee. But your current item will work even if you opt out

i guess the issue is previously updates were all included at no cost - now we have to pay for them

I will subscribe if they add profiles.

I.e profile 1 for normal times, run batteries to set percentage

Profile 2 for when there is loadshedding or outages and keep soc at 100%

I still haven't opted in to get the updates forever on single device/etc. but as I take steps to remove Home Assistant from this house because of renting the house out in the next months, Solar Assistant automations at least help me make sure the batteries get to 100% once a week.

I've wasn't paying attention to anything and didn't realise the batteries had not reached 100% in 3 weeks!

I also need to run the batteries to 30% overnight now I think - 2 x Hubble AM2s

I like the newest beta. The "totals" tab now allows for viewing day, month and year data much further back.
