I'm R112 per kwh, I'm sitting on about 930kWh so also almost there for a July install
 
Month 29 of my system and down to R6.72/kWh.

Total energy produced 34 229kWh and closing in on nearly R100k in what I have not needed to pay CoCT over that period.

Another 3 years and the system would have paid itself, less deportment on what tariff increases comes through.

Another thing I'm not including here is that my tenant has their own prepaid meter running from my inverter so they are buying electricity from me which is on average R800 per month in income from selling solar to them. The benefit to them is that they also don't go through load shedding.
 
Come on this will just make naysayers think solar is a bad idea.

How about every time you report the number you do the
R25/kWh 6 months
And then also report the same number assuming maybe 20 years with a drop down, so let's say 16ish years
(so multiply by months so far then divide by 200)

So 25 X 6 / 200 = R0.75/kWh expected

Had a bit more of a think and assuming 100% down to 80% over 20 years the factor goes from around 225 in the first year down to 180 by year 5.

And that doesn't include inflation... So your returns will go up by 20% or more next year, so probably for the next 5 years inflation will out pace solar degredation!

As SARS just processed my Section 12B allowance yesterday in full this is now about R12.46 sitting on 10.34 Mhw production

SARS E-Filing 2021/22

Would be interested to hear if you managed to get the solar claim through. Will be doing a similar one but for this tax period. Just finalised the verification and it was approved 100% write off in 1 year! As I said detailed spreadsheet and this is how it was completed in the return...

7,570 kWh, would have been at R23.51/kWh. Added on to my system so it's gone up to R31.70. But I'll be generating a lot more power now so it should come down quicker than it would have...
 
Currently on R34.29/kWh. Generate 3 791kW since the installation in Aug 2022. Would have been better if it wasn't for the lighting/power surge that killed the inverter during December. Still a long way to go.
 
I somehow missed this thread while doing my research for my solar installation.

My cost is currently sitting at R140/kWh after two months. Production at 1448 kWh at the end of October.
 
Lol R310/kwh, R775/kwh if I had to pay for my own batteries...

But I only have 3 panels that have been in for about 2 months. Will come down drastically as I add enough panels to cover the daytime usage
