Solar Journey House

See attached Pics Metro earth.
They have a common Earth. Cant attach file. Ok this works.

Middle cable Metro supply.
Left Cable going to flat.
Right Cable going to House. Middle Meter and Right hand side Meters give me the supply to house. 2-Phases.

You also see Bare copper cable running with armoured cable. That is also what I see in house and outside.

From this I see Red and Yellow are 220VAC and Blue cable Neutral.

Over and out

Then the neutral --> earth bonding is done elsewhere. Get the muni out to check.

Edit: careful with that image, it discloses you residential address.

It works currently in Flat. I have a earth when Esdom was on. Now I earth while earth/neutral bond is on.
When supply returns.
Minute or so before inverter kicks in I lose earth.
Then you hear click sound from inverter the earth is back,

Just for a couple of seconds I lose it but comes back.
I personally don't like that, if it were my home the municipality needs to explain why and if its normal, pref in writing.

How many people have earth leakage tester other wize I would have not noticed this.

This morning I need to sort house out. I know the blue cable is Neutral. Yellow and Red cable 220VAC
Also for both phases there is only one neutral common.

House Earth Neutral bond with a twist.

1) Before eskom fails on earth leakage tester L-N-E ok
2) Switch supply off to inverter earth leakage tester L-N-E ok. EarthNeutral bond relay works.
Now it comes with a twist.
3) Switch supply to inverter on. Earth leakage tester reports L-N reversed.
4) After a minute or so, inside of the inverter i hear a click sound.
5) Now earth leakage tester reports L-N-E ok. WTF

Flat Earth Neutral bond also with a twist.

1) Before eskom fails on earth leakage tester L-N-E ok
2) Switch supply off to inverter earth leakage tester L-N-E ok. EarthNeutral bond relay works.
Now it comes with a twist.
3) Switch supply to inverter on. Earth leakage tester reports L-N no earth.
4) After a minute or so, inside of the inverter i hear a click sound.
5) Now earth leakage tester reports L-N-E ok. WTF

Why the click sound comming from inverter then all is ok. Think a min or so later.

I phoned Metro to see were Earth Neutral bond is formed on there side.
Get shunted from pilar to post.

If you use Segen box of trix

Followed these steps this morning for measuring.

Sunsynk Hybrid Inverters and Earth-Neutral Bridge Box. SegenSolar highly recommends installing the Sunsynk hybrid inverters with the Earth-Neutral bridge box available on our portal (part no: ACDB-ARENB-25A). It is essential to install this box on the back up output of the inverter. When grid is lost, the inverter goes into back up mode and loses the earth-neutral link on the grid side. The box automatically creates a temporary earth-neutral bridge in this instance, thus avoiding the formation of floating/elevated voltages that may result in equipment malfunction and electric shock risks. The wiring diagram is shown below:

1. Supply grid power to the inverter.
2. Ensure there is an output on the loads port - 230Vac (activated by initial battery connection).
3. Measure the voltage between the load output neutral and the earth terminal.
4. The voltage should be 0Vac if not, check if the wiring on the grid side is correct. Mine 300mVAC
5. Switch off the grid power.
6. Measure the voltage again between the load output neutral and the earth terminal.
7. The voltage should be between 0-3Vac if not, check if the wiring on the bridge box is correct as per diagram above. Mine 0.5VAC

So spot on.

I wont lie, that caught me off guard completely. Customer with a earth leakage tester but a big thumbs up to you, most of those that have the E-N bonding might not even notice but it did raise some serious WTH questions with your findings and awaiting some official feedback there.

Tnx @DuracellBunny you are a installer you can have a chat with them. They have to reply back to you.
I cant, not a installer.

I did get a elctrical guy to house.
Showed hime what I want he made a couple of suggestions.
He took photos and will improve on current layout.

Install new backplane for new miniature circuit breakers. (13mm and earth leakage tester 26mm)
He will neaten the DB panel.
Also sort out axuliary DB panel, for stove and geyser.
There is light at the end of tunnel.

This a sunsync system?
Somewhere i remember there a wire you could "cut" on inverters something to do with 110v split phase from American market, maybe a sunsync guru could find the article, we could see if it related

I still have not received my one UP5000 battery back.
I handed this in on the 9-9-22 back to supplier.

I have mailed the more times then required. SIW got the battery from CNBM-SA.
Are we playing House of Batteries here in SA.

Tried to e-mail [email protected] mail delivery failure.
Why !!!
Any Pylontech e-mails all fail

It seems rain is here to stay.
Charging times have changed. House was fully charged yesterday, one battery only. Waiting to get reapaired unit back.
Flat a different story only managed 89% yesterday.
Next week outlook will have some challenges ahead.
