Done what successful?Someone actually done this successfully that you know off? ... any links?
Or stolen... I would speak to the rental agent and get permission to drill two holes...Cool man, just dont wanna see your PV panels get damaged
He lives in a complex, to do that you need to go through a lengthy process with the board of trusteesWhy not just slap it on the roof? The roof is just sitting there doing nothing.
If you're certain that you dont want to secure the frame to a wall then something like this may workI am thinking to use some concrete weights. Similar to those used for umbrellas.
It's not rocket science, unless you are poking fun at his words? He obviously meant charge the batteries.

So if its so easy, why dont you just tell us all. !!!
Connect solar panels to this Mecer .... Is there an option on the unit for it?
Did ya all miss the part I noted in BOLD
Solar Charger Controller (confirm with GeeWiz if it is the correct one):

Agree. And that's not expensive.Or maybe a combination of custom and something similar linked above by jade.
Sorry, I was just taken aback by the question since all inverters can be used with solar if you have the right solar charge controller and know which wire must be connected where. I thought you were being sarcastic. So if its so easy, why dont you just tell us all. !!!

even if the inverter doesn't have a built in charger you can just use an external charge controller.
imo you should just build a custom one out of shelving material
this kind of thing:

it means no drilling or anything, simply, make an L with two of peices by bolting them trough the holes and then use a third as a brace to make a triangle, make two of those (or even 3) and join them together with 3 more peices.
then buy yourself 1.2m lintels to use as ballast.
It's similar stuff they use for those steel shelves, you can at you local hardware.Linky please if you know where to get that locally.![]()

@RedViking i am keen to see the setup later and the reviews on your awesome puppy.
i see some models can take a solar panel, i think thats awesome especially as loadshedding stages are getting worse.
But what interests me the most is that during the day you are putting in quite a few amps so your batteries are going to be pretty healthy once ESKOM kicks back in
and that means MORE life cycles out of the batteries
Its a no brainer, solar assisted inverter ftw![]()
looking forward to it, you won't be sorry and your batteries will love youI definitely won't happen this year. But once I have a cost effective solution to mounting solar panels I hope to do it in Jan/Feb.
