We have discontinued this service due to too many people not being able to understand the concept of a "fair usage policy" which is used by ISP's world-wide.
It was not our intention to confuse or deceive anyone but rather to try to provide a service that we thought would be of benefit.
There was no point in continuing to provide a service that caused confusion and was not perceived to be beneficial.
We have instead introduced a new SAIX-based service with fixed caps (of up to 100 GB international or up to 250 GB local) with data roll-over, meaning that all unused data at the end of a month is carried over to the following month (in a Data Bank) and never expires.
Hopefully this service will be more understandable and perceived as beneficial by some.
Our Xtreme ADSL products provide uncapped data transfer (traffic) on the SAIX backbone. An uncapped account using the SAIX backbone can however not provide totally unlimited data transfer. There is, therefore, no set cap on the amount of data transfer allowed per month, but fair usage is expected.
Our SAIX "uncapped" accounts therefore provide you with the peace of mind that you will not be capped as long as you are fair in your usage of the account.
To cater for the fact that different people have different data usage requirements we have created "Lite" and "Xtra" uncapped packages in addition to our standard uncapped packages.
The Lite packages are ideal for those that have a light data requirement and do not want to have to pay as much as for a standard uncapped account.
The Xtra packages are ideal for those that have a heavier than usual data requirement but still want the peace of mind of an uncapped account.
We expect all our SAIX "uncapped" ADSL users to be responsible in their usage and how it affects other "uncapped" users. As every GB of data traffic on the SAIX backbone has an associated cost we allocate a pool of data traffic to be shared by all "uncapped" users. This enables us to keep the price as low as possible. If you are not fair in your traffic usage this will have a negative impact on the data traffic available to all other users.
If, based on your chosen package, your usage in a particular month becomes excessive to the point that it will impact negatively on other users, we reserve the right to ask you to reduce the amount of data you are downloading to a minimum until the beginning of the next month.
If you still need to continue with heavy downloading for the rest of the month you are welcome to purchase extra GB's of data for the purpose, or you could upgrade your package to one which is better suited to your usage requirements.
Only if you ignore our reasonable request to drastically reduce your usage do we reserve the right to disable your account for the remainder of the month.
Should you continuously ignore our reasonable requests to be fair in your usage of your SAIX uncapped account we reserve the right to ask you to find an alternative broadband provider.
Guys, please stop battering solmatrix on an open forum. Its their product, so please, stop making a fool out of your self's to denie them of their right to have what they call "uncapped". whether it is or not, do you really have to beat aopen about it?
wow it sure is removed
Yes.
Using the term "uncapped" when clearly the product is not, is misleading.
I'm glad they've withdrawn the product. Maybe when bandwdith is down to R5/Gb we will get true uncapped SAIX products, until then it doesn't matter how you packages it, Telkom plays the tune and everyone else dances.
please explain how the first line uncapped data transfer == usage limit (30G usage for example on the DSLXtreme Lite).
Our SAIX "uncapped" accounts therefore provide you with the peace of mind that you will not be capped as long as you are fair in your usage of the account.
The page you linked to is no longer accessible from a menu or link on our website and the service is no longer offered. You obviously saved the link to the page when it was still available.
The original page and the Fair Usage Policy will remain on our server until the ASASA make a ruling on the matter of our using the term "uncapped" when advertising this service.
There was no set 30 GB usage limit on DSLXtreme Lite.
Note the bold section above.
The service was uncapped IF you were fair in your usage (i.e. you would have unrestricted access if you did not abuse it)
Only if you were NOT fair in your usage AND after being requested to reduce your usage a number of times you were still taking unfair advantage of the service then and only then we reserved the right to restrict you from further abusing the service by disabling the service for the remainder of the month.
Such a policy is perfectly reasonable to anybody that plans to be fair in their usage of an "uncapped" service.
Only somebody that intended to milk the service for all it is worth and download 100's of GB that would cost the ISP more than what they charged for the service would object to this.
On the "Lite" accounts an average usage of up to 1 GB per day would be considered fair.
Fair usage by international standards is 200gb's+.
Why would you think IPTV etc would be subjected to a FUP?please point to the source of this information - far as i can see its 50-80G
exactly how is IPTV / HDTV going to work with an FUP in place...

you will not be capped as long as you are fair in your usage of the account.
