Last night I had a monster at 8pm and was roaring to go raid with all my nerds.

Loadshedding hit at 10pm as I was tanking and we were progressing really well and that took me out for 2 hours.

Im finally ready to pull the trigger.

My budget is 15k max

How can I keep gaming during loadshedding.

My pc, router and screen probably draw about 850w together I guess.

Where do I spend my money

Get a Killawatt and measure properly then join the mecer thread;)

Okay dope, that is within budget.
So is mecer the best choice?
I seen some other brands as well like linkqnet.

More than your budget, but I got one of these for about 20k at the start of this year. Lasts about 4 hours minimum when gaming hard, about 8 hours for general PC usage.

Might be a good idea to get one of these to make sure. My PC peaks at about 300W during hardcore gaming sessions on a Ryzen 3600, 16 GB ram, RX5700, 27" 144hz monitor.

A tad off tangent here: but is it better to run your PC off something like this Mecer 2400VA device plugged into generator, instead of plugging straight into generator?

The cheaper modified-sine inverters don't clean incoming power, they pass it directly through if it's within expected frequency/voltage so in that regards it doesn't matter much (like normal square/modified sine UPS that gives you time to switch over)

So then perhaps I am doing overkill
I have a 8700 with 16gb and 3080 with a 34 inch ultrawide 3440x1440p

How loud is it, can you keep it in the same room as your pc
Put it in a closet or something and you won't hear it. The mecer is the best bang for buck option. With two hubble Li-Ion batteries its really the best solution at that price point. (Otherwise get two decent deep cycle batteries)

Yeah, suggest you get one of those meters to check. Borrow one if you know someone who has one.

You should consider getting LiFePO4 batteries rather than lead acid. With LA you're essentially limited to half their capacity, they recharge slowly and they're damn heavy.

Oh yes, another reason this thing costs so much is because it recharges super fast. Unlike the batteries in the Mecer units which will take several hours to get back to max.
