Some advice would be great.

So I am fed up to the point that I want to give up on teh_internets. Lets start with my stats:

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/3050/connection.png

As you can see I might aswell rather communicate with smoke signals. Sometimes my downloads are measured in bytes per second, I'm dead serious. I have called Telkom so many times. They sent out a person once, but he was completely clueless. It was really ridiculous how uninformed he was.

Every time I call them I beg them to send someone out to my house so I can show them my stats. Every single time I just receive an SMS a week later that says my fault has been resolved. When I call back they say someone was at the exchange and fixed the problem. After that I just call again and the same thing happens. This has literally happened more than 10 times. They just refuse to fix the problem.

Now the reason I am here is: Is there anything I can do to fix this myself since Telkom just refuses to act? It's more likely that I will get action from a lesbian nun. I'm pretty sure there's some bad copper somewhere, but I have no idea where to begin or how to test.

Any kind of help would be appreciated.

Extra Info:
4mb line
Mweb Uncapped
My line gets even worse (yes it is possible) when it rains.

Thank you ladies and gentlemen.

Looks like your only solution would be to either have a mini-DSLAM installed (and with those stats, you have the right to demand it) by telkom, or to call them and ask to me moved down to 1Mbps profile - at least then you might get a stable 1Mbps rather than a very unstable '2mbps' that barely gives you 1Mbps anyway. Your main issue is your low noise margin -- that attennuation should give you at least a stable 2Mbps. Perhaps try get as much of the cable outside your house to be replaced with TWISTED PAIR telco wire which cancels out interference (why Telkom still installs straight-through telco wire in this DSL age is BEYOND me...).
In the meantime, perhaps try another modem...!
It looks like you're using a Netgear DG834* modem, which are decent modems. I strongly suggest you install the DGTEAM firmware because it will allow you to get the best out of your netgear, and has some extra features/settings which might help. Unfortunately DGTeam's site seems down, so let me know your modem's exact model number (model and version also) by reading whats underneath it, and I might be able to help you out.
But if Telkom refuses to help, then try find another modem to test with. Billion, D-Link, and Siemens 762sx have worked better than the Netgears from my most recent experiences. Also try removing filters and phones from the line, and plugging your modem at the closest port to where the your phone line enters your house from outside.

Thanks for the reply! Think I'll go borrow my girlfriend's router and try it out with no phones/filters.

With that high line attenuation you would be lucky to even sync at 2Mbps!
Certain routers work better in poor conditions like that.

See if your line attenuation stays that high (high = bad, low = good) when you remove all other telephonic devices and plug the modem in on the Telkom line without going through any ADSL filters/splitters.

You need a line attenuation of less than 50dB to sync reliably at 4Mbps.
Usually the line attenuation is directly linked with your distance from the DSLAM, but there are often other stuff that can influence the line attenuation value.

Something I forgot to mention is that I have synced at 4mb in the past, about 8 months ago.

Which exchange are you on sounds like decaying line if the rain affects it or line is exposed to the rain

Do you know exactly how far you actually are from exchange/dslam might help to know if that Attenuation is wrong and being affected by the line problem?

If you close then you will have to have telkom check every inch of the line from exchange to the house

If Attenuation is correct it would be strange that you use to get a 4 meg line with that attenuation

What Merenwenrago said. If you were getting 4Mbps, then your line joints have probably corroded a bit and it would be a good idea to get telkom to check the line thoroughly from source to destination

Right but is there any other number I can call other than 0800375375 to have them come out to my house so I could talk to them and tell them these things? Every time I call and specifically ask them to send someone to my house, they say "we'll make a note sir", but no one ever pitches. When I call to complain when I just receive an sms that my fault has been resolved they just say "whether we send someone out to your premises depends on the nature of the fault". Rinse repeat.

10215 and 10215 if i remember right and also escalate the fault and keep making them till they come out
