I'm hoping that my port from CellC to Vodacom will be completed today, CellC appears to have been cooperative as far as I can see: got my porting pin sms [3 different ones in short succession], and at about 03:15 on Sunday morning I got another sms from Vodacom to say that CellC had approved the port to Vodacom...
Having said that, the people at the Vodashop I visited, on Saturday, were battling with the MNP system, which kept on spitting out "system unavailable" messages, whenever they [2 people] tried to follow the porting steps. Now I don't know if it was Vodacom's system [dealerweb.vodacom.co.za] that was the problem, or if the central mobile number portability system was the problem, or maybe a Digicrap or ADSL link inbetween causing problems...
One of the people at the Vodashop proudly stated that MTN is getting fined R1000 per customer per day for holding onto numbers [not letting go of them].
Not much else to report other than I hope my 084-kiddies will be up and running with my R1.95 Pick 'n Pay Vodacom starter pack sim card sometime today - I'm not overly optimistic and I expect the usual 24 hour activation delay on the new sim card...
