Hi folks

I have emailed ICASA yesterday to enquire about the release date of the ADSL recommendations. I have just received the following reply (thanks Dianne for the prompt reply):

“The write up of the findings document is more or less complete. Our meeting only takes place next week where the bolts and nuts have to be put in . However it has to be approved by Council before it can be gazetted… I will give you an update re adoption of doc by Council when it happens”

Regards,

RPM

Yay! - Good news! - please let the council make the right choice - lets hope it isn't the same one which stop Mnets open time

Thanks rpm

me thinks telkom got a preview of the ruling. i am trying to prove this through my underground connections. lets see what some digging turns up

rpm, since Diane at Icasa seems to respond to you, could you please ask her if an electronic version of the ADSL hearings transcript from the Monday is available?

The reason I am particularly keen to have this is because I have a number of draft letters I have written to various newspapers, and I need to make sure that what was said at the hearings, and therefore what I claim was said, was indeed recorded and is on the record.

Hi AdLo

No feedback yet. I do not think we will hear much before it is published in the GG, but I will inform you as soon as I hear anything.

Regards,

RPM

I assume that the drafting of the policy will take some time. I go through the GG every week with a fine toothcomb. In the meantime, whoever wants an electronic copy of the published document send an email to [email protected] and I will gladly forward it to you.

Nothing has been published by ICASA in the Government Gazette this week. I am trying to found out from ICASA when they will be publishing their findings / recommendations. I am sure this will take a few phone calls. Will keep everyone posted.

ICASA has emailed me the transcripts. Should anyone want copies of the transcripts, please send me a your email address via private message.

I have not received any feedback regarding the release date of ICASA's recommendations / findings.

Only 2 phone calls to get the transcripts.

/impressed

Edit:

This is the reply I got from ICASA:

"Hi

I can't say at this point in time when they will be published but we are curently in the process of making our findings and conclusions. The document will probably be gazetted so watch this space.

Regards"

Any word yet MaryJane ? I am getting impatient......*sigh*

I went through this week's Government Gazettes and nothing.

I will follow up with ICASA again next week if nothing has been published.

This delay is sad - but good for advertizing revenues of myadsl. My theory is that the "Telkom Monopoly" debacle has been an illusion created by the owners of myadsl for the sake of huge profits :D

My personal view is that Telkom would not have planned any change in their pricing structure without having a good idea of what is going to be in the finding. If ICASA were thinking of dropping line rentals, Telkoms planned reductions are not significant enough to change ICASA's finding. The TOTAL-CAP Cuttoff Limit strategy, or whatever you want to call it, would also not make Telkom look any better in ICASA's eyes.

Common ICASA - you are INDEPENDANT. There is no need to follow standard government timescales on this.
