Hi all..

I got some connections in the east on holiday and want them to bring me a nice new shiny gfx card back.. I have read the reviews on the net and they seem to rank the cards fairly evenly.

I would just like to get some personal opinions from people who have any of the below cards, so i can make up my mind as to which one to get..

XFX HD 4890 850M 1GB DDR5 DUAL DVI T 1GB
Sapphire HD 4890 1GB
ASUS HD4980 PLUS 1GB DDR5
ASUS HD4890 1GB DDR5 PCS+ (OC Version 1GB)

ASUS ENGTX275/896M 896 MB

I currently have an XTX1950X which has served me well, but its now on the "driver not to be updated" list from ATI.. so its not gonna get any better. The price difference for all the ati cards is about R100, while the X275 is about R200 more.

I have also currently got a GA 965P-DQ6 motherboard, and i see it has 3 x PCI express 1, 1 PCI express x16 and 1 PCI express x4 slot on it. Would i need to upgrade the mobo as well? I have not really been following motherboards lately..

thanks in advance

nice to hear..

Does your motherboard support crosfire? If so It will be compatible with all of the Ati screen cards..

Personally I'd settle for the Radeon Sapphire HD 4890 1GB
The reasons are... Sapphire cards are also made here in South-Africa
Sapphire Cards are more than 15 years in the market and you can let them be fixed anywhere in the world...

My previous Card Was a Sapphire Radeon X800XT platinum - with Gddr3 :D and it lasted a very long time

I'd def go for the Sapphire HD 4890 no doubt about it. + over clocking speeds are excellent.

Yeah, they are about the same at stock with the HD4890 taking a slight lead at lower resolutions. Given that you can get a larger overclock on the HD4890 as well, I would think that it is the better option. (unless you only play a few games... then you'll need to look at game specific benchmarks to decide)

thanks for the feedback so far.

I am not into overclocking myself, so i suppose if i can get an already overclocked card, then it will be ok.

Does anyone actually have any of these cards yet? As i mentioned i have seen the reviews and seen that they are very similar, thats why i would like to get some first hand reviews.. :)

My mobo is crossfire enabled, but i wont be thinking about putting 2 cards in at any time within the next 100 years.. i like games, but not that much.. I also have the version 1.0 of my mobo, so it is getting a little old..
