Hi Guys i've asked on other forums but let me try and explain this, our office in the uk need to test certain things on a site in spain, but for them to have access they need a static ip, is there a program or piece of software that links a static ip address to that of a dynamically updated ip address, they like us cannot get a static ip adress unless they get a diginet line, which in india is even more expensive than here?

Please any help would greatly be appreciated.    :

the problem is not the site in Spain but our site in india, the guys in spain need to have static ip adress for our indian office to be able to get access to their network, they can not list a dns name apparently.

Yup - stupid firewall rules. They only allow access for this specific IP Addres, and the makers or firewalls have not managed to wake up yet and realised that a NAME is as good as an ADDRESS. Sigh.

There is a way to do it, but you still need a PC somewhere that is open for your use and on a fixed ip address.

Use tunneling software.

Tunneling software is a utility that accepts requests on port x and forwards them to ip address y on port w.

On that PC with a fixed ip you install tunneling software, and set it up to forward requests to the destination server. On the destination server you setup their firewalls to allow access from the tunnelled machine.

It's slower cos you're now passing through a tunnel, but it does work, and it's such a mockery of security.

Bleugh. The things we're forced to do.

Thanks Stroke

Great work we've used a program called stunnel which worked very well, this is slow but it's just autherisation needed so thatnks once again.

Thanks to all comments:D :D
