We are 3 in our office (2 non-afrikaans speaking and 1 afrikaans speaking).
There's this woman, a customer actually, who came here, twice now.
And all the time she comes, she greets so friendly and warmly the afrikaans speaking one (not that they are friends or something) in afrikaans of course, make few jokes and laugh (women thing), then go to the bottom of the office (Its a rectangle office), passing the 2 other people without even greeting them and sit next to her, so that she can show her some work.
I mean does "Hello" costs a thing?

Some people should learn some spelling.

Also, why do you care? She's your customer not your friend.

Yeah ... you seem a lil oversensitive. Do you greet her? Maybe she thinks you are stuck up and have no manners since you do not greet her or do you insist that she greet first? She is a customer - the breed required for your business to succeed. MAybe the other Afrikaans person in your offices always greet her first - who knows ...

I would actually love it if every Tom, Dick and Harry didn't greet me upon entering the office, I would actually be able to get some work done.

You cant treat a work environment like you are in school. Your client is not there to be friends with you actually you should try and be friendly to the client seeming she is paying your company to do work. Which in turn pays your salary .....

Why dont you go and complain at your boss about this maybe he/she will be able to explain to you how petty and idiotic you are.

Grow up ....

I don't know why, but people are *******s, especially like this. My current gf has had such bad experiences with Afrikaans people EXACTLY about this situation that it blows my mind.

Since the IRC days, whenever I met up with friends from there, we all kept it English even if only 1 of us were English speaking because we strive to include them in all conversation and make them feel part of the group.

A "hello" costs nothing, I still can't fathom why people do this (see my "they are *******s" comment). It's never been my experience and my group of friends never does this, not even my parents. It's sad to be honest.

True, she's not here to be my friend or anyone else's.
I think me greeting her with a kind of smile on my face is beeing friendly enough to her. You, on the other hand, are the one who needs to grow up and know that "Hello" is not for friends only.
What I find idiotic here is you insulting people you don't know about a matter that doesn't concern you and wasn't even addressed to you!

You are at work... get a grip..

I don't greet people (other than the person/people I am dealing with) when I go to do business at a company.

Yeah well... Maybe.
I was browsing threads under "World-of-Warcraft-and-Diablo" forum then I thought about posting that new thread and voila. I forgot to change categories first.
