Some questions for Windows phone users

Anyone able to confirm real world functionality of Google calendar and contacts when they get 8.1?

Was working fine when I was still using my Google account, MS won't release something as supported that they haven't tested

Yes, but exactly how it works, with what limitations, is yet to be seen

Plugging in to charge phone from a PC is all good and well, but it opens an attack vector.

In my experience, if you can't control it, you risk spreading the infection to other devices.

Happened before, will happen again.

I see this hasn't been mentioned, the phone doesn't connect if it is locked. Also you have to confirm that you trust the computer when you plug it into a new/different machine.

For those on iOS thinking of switching over, WP8.1 has the ability to sync your iCloud data to the phone now as well

anyone ever heard of something called the camdegan virus that attacks WP, can't find anything about it on Google, but this from an FB page, sounds like :erm: carp to me

it's one of a few virus types that makes your OS copy and paste it's directory files over and over and over until your phone literally has a seizure

You won't find it on google, not a recognised virus yet the lads at Dial a Nerd filled me on it.

Haven't seen anything about that. Judging by the way the OS is structured, I call BS until I hear otherwise. Something like that would make big news.

Nokia also explained how Windows Phone is the most secure mobile operating system. The reason? The Windows Phone operating system “cannot be overwritten by an external program and nothing can be installed without your knowledge.” Therefore, Windows Phone users are safe.

Unlike iOS and Android devices, where they can be rooted or jailbroken, Windows Phone apps are only retrievable via the Windows Phone Store.
