Ok So I had to replace one of the old pc's at the office and I'm thinking about turning it into a Smoothwall firewall. I have a coupla questions.

Is this a linux based system? I'm on Neotel Prime, would I be able to connect the device to the smoothwall pc?

I would like to run all the local traffic through my adsl line, and all international traffic through the neotel line, would this be possible?

My third question was weather or not I could monitor traffic, but I already found the answer to that :D

Can I use smoothwall for all this?

Yes to all of the above - not too sure about the Neotel device, though. The_Librarian is our resident Smoothwall expert, so he might be of more help.

Ok I've got a couple more questions..

Whats the best way to set this up?

My home network consists of:

My pc - wired - Ubnutu / XP
The media server - wired - Currenty xp, but soon to be ... mint probably
My wifes laptop - wireless - xp
PS3, Wii, Psp's, iPhone - All wireless.
Newest addition - Smoothwall pc.

I will have Neotel prime and ADSL for internet. (maybe I will add my tytn ii on for 3g as a backup..)

Would it be better to put a wireless card into the smoothwall pc and have all the wireless devices connect to that?

I'm going to add another nic to have two nics and possibly a wireless nic.
So then the Neotel will connect via usb, the adsl will be connected to a nic. The lan will be on the other nic and possibly the wireless connected to a wireless nic.

Now should I have the traffic from the media server to the wireless run through smoothwall or should I just let it all run through a wireless router?
