Hi MrBeep & Everyone at openweb.

For the last week, numerous people have not been able to sign into MSN. Most of us assumed it was a problem at microsoft but after doing a bit of Q&A I found out that ALL of these people are on Openweb, more specifically using OpenRouter.

PLEASE can something be done / looked at. All our MSN's work fine (Logging in VIA webmessenger.msn.com works) and we're starting to get desperate.

Thanks so much.

FYI : A bit about the problem. When trying to log into MSN, Openrouter picks up the 2 - 3 normal connections instantly but drops them a split second later, leaving it with "Connections : 0" and no trace of "Login.live.com" or any of the normal hosts that should appear.

All our proxy / router information is set up 100% as normal.

The error is returned as 80072745. After googling a million potential fixes, the standard fix is 2 disable your proxy (the proxy being the problem).. But obviously we need our proxy 2 connect :D

Unfortunately OpenRouter, which runs OpenBrowse does not guarantee the use of MSN messenger.

Full support was removed about 4 months ago due to the fact that Microsoft kept on changing the way the software connects to the server, costing thousands in developing fees each time to unravel the new connection mystery.

Emails were sent to current subscribers informing them of the change.

I can however suggest www.24.com 's Local server that connects you to MSN.

Another option is to use Obsidian's local jabber server. It supports transports for MSN, AIM, ICQ and Yahoo, though I haven't tested any of these. I login using my Hotmail details (which connects to MSN) and the MSN transport always responds on connect with my number of new/unread emails, so I guess messaging should work.

I mainly use it to chat to people on Google Talk.

MrBeep, its always worked 100% and its one of the main reasons I've loved Openweb, the fact that I can still use MSN (One of the most used programs on my PC bar none). Is MSN support now completely gone from the OpenBrowse package ? :(

I support the option of 24.com Messenger.

Cool i tried 24's messenger, very cool but had some probs with missing contacts.

I'm now using Trillian 3.1 Basic with proxy on. Works way better, thanks :)

Why don't all of you use Route Sentry or a IP Cop box setup to split the traffic?, No offense to openweb but I've used the proxy and now I use a prepaid web-africa account and the performance is a million times better not to mention that it costs about the same for Openbrowse as it does for 1gb prepaid @ Web-Africa (except the 96k openbrowse), and because it carries over I've used 1gb for more than a month before(actually it happens a lot) in effect costing less than Openbrowse.
