Thanks.

The telephone number is blacklisted by no one, with no one...

Capish?

The Credit Bureaus just record numbers provided on peoples application forms and uploaded by credit providers and thus its on someones credit profile but that's it, all ID number based.

In fact, there isn't even a thing like blacklist technically, with Credit Bureaus, just a bad credit profile.

EDIT:
And RICA has nothing to do with Credit Bureaus or credit or anything like that, just think of what the acronym RICA stands for.

How can they blacklist the number. The institutions simply have the wrong number.

Tell your GF to tell her side BF that he should use his own phone number when getting loans and applying for credit

When they call say the number is yours and has been for years and you've never heard of the person they're asking for. Add that these calls started recently so it's possible someone typed the wrong number into their computer, or even that a person unknown is giving out a false number to their creditors

Help the poor caller to get the facts as you know them.

Call center potatoes either don't have authorisation to remove your number from their DB or they just don't couldn't be bothered. Sure, they'll tell you they've removed it but a month later you'll get that same company call about debt collection, life insurance or extended vehicle warranty.

You will not escape.

Debt collection agents are not working for the company that initially provided the debt. They buy the debt at a fraction of the initial cost of the debt. The company that provided the debt writes off the rest. The debt collectors then try and collect as much of the initial value as possible. By removing your number from their database is removing one of their leads, and they ain't gonna do that.

If you took R100 debt and defaulted, the lender will not try to recover the outstanding amount. It would cost them too much. Instead they sell the R100 to a debt collector for R25. They write off R75 and reduce their tax burden. The debt collector will try recover R200 from you.

Debt collectors will often use a huge range of numbers to contact "clients". So the chances that the same number will be used for you is unlikely. Apps like Truecaller rely on mining its users contacts and sharing the info amongst its users or anyone who logs onto their site. BUT you can follow a simple procedure on their site and have your details removed from that number. So all anyone can see is the country and network. nothing else.

They rely on you admitting debt. If they call your number, looking for someone else and you admit to their debt, what happens then?

Basically, what can you do to frustrate the people calling you to get them to stop if the simple 'please stop you have the wrong number' approach doesn't work?
