Somerset West Exchange Ful

I applied for DSL on an existing line earlier this month and received a response from Telkom today that the Somerset West exchange is full and that there are no DSL ports available. Since waiting for a port to become available and expanding the exchange are both “unlikely” my questions is this:

Would I even want to have DSL on an exchange that is full? Does this make the exchange congested, resulting in poor DSL performance?

Not sure where in Somerset west you are. I'm in Bridgewater and have my 10 meg line for the past 2 years. Never struggled with congestion on either my Telkom Internet or FNB uncapped accounts.

No the exchange would be fine if its one of new units with fiber backbone.

Maybe apply for telkom unlimted lte rather?

I'm at the complex accross from the new somerset lakes so if the exchange in where I think it is, that would put me about twice as far away as you are. It's encouraging to know you haven't felt the signs of a congestion though. I'm applying for 4mb capped account with axxess.
