Somerset West WiFi coverage

Hi All,

I'm moving to Mt Claire (Sereno Terrace), Hoeveld Rd and have had difficulty in finding a company that has direct line of sight to the high(est) point on the shoulder of the Helderberg. Most have towers that are lower down and are hidden by houses above Silverboomkloof road and Alston Close. Nobody seems to know who owns the high tower clearly visible from where I will be. I have a company that will fetch a signal from HansseKop, but was wondering if I can get one from closer by?

I would like to get 6Mbps - capped/uncapped, shaped or unshaped would depend on pricing policy.

Any recommendations and experiences please!!

I don't think there are reputable companies who can, but I stand corrected.

Forgive my ignorance: ftth?

I have a company that can fetch a signal from Hans Se Kop using a dish like antenna. Should I be concerned about the distance?

An ftth deployment in the complex is the way to go. We'll run a single backbone back to our cabinets in Teraco, Rondebosch, and then run fibre to each unit in the complex.

A fibre direct to the home or fibre to the kerb with gigabit cable into the house is actually cheaper then wireless in the long run.

Check with Sonic Wireless and Snowball too, but agree that a FTTH project for a complex would be your best bet and would add value to the complex. ADSL exchanges in Somerset West are heavily congested. We are moving next month to another part of Somerset West which will hopefully give a bit better service, otherwise I'm checking with Cape Connect as well. If you can get away with capped data, then LTE from Telkom is lightning fast in town. I've tried it for a couple of months while I was waiting for a phone line.
