I don't understand this! Something keeps downloading in the backround! I've tried everything including the following:
•Checked "msconfig" to see if there isn't an automatic update service running
•Scanned my ports to see if I am maybe hacked (I'm not)
•Disabled the Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
•Checked all my programs to see if there are any auto updates enabled (There are none)
•Scanned my pc for virusses (found only cookies, deleted and didn't help)

None of these seemd to help and it's (whatever it might be) downloaded more than 30mb now!

Is there any software that can monitor what service or application is connected to the net and is downloading (if it can tell me how much it has downloaded, that would also be nice but at the moment anything will do!)

Thanx for any help:)

Download Fiddler2, it acts as a proxy and will check if anything related to IE is sending traffic out.

Try and find a packet sniffer, maybe WireShark and monitor your NIC.

@ The Techie

Thanx :) I'll go check out the FAQ and if I don't find there I'll search Google.

@ JUGGY

I'll try fiddler if Netlimiter doesn't work and then I'll try WireShark

Thanx for suggestion!!:)

@ PseudZ

Yeah I've done a total scan with Pc-cillen 2008, incl. Spy-ware, Trojan horses, cookies, Virusses, Worms etc and it only found cookies which it the deleted but it didn't help:(
I'll try what The Techie and JUGGY said and see if that works.

Thanx for the reply!!:):)

@ remybfg10k

I'll try it if all the other software mentioned doesn't work.

Thanx for suggestion! :) :)

Let me save you the trouble :)

It could be your antivirus updater, Adobe Reader (notorious for not asking), Windows itself updating or a choice of several others.

Already checked all programs, no auto updates.

Thanx for opinion! :) :)

FOUND IT!!! I don't understand though:confused: It seems to be svchost.exe and according to alot of forums this is just a normal process!

OH yeah I used netlimiter 2 monitor and it is a truly a great program and I recommend it to anyone having the same problem as me or who just wants to know whats downloading on their pc's.

Thanx go to THE TECHIE for the great software suggestion!!:)
Thanx for all other help as well!!:)

go to your control panel and check the settings for windows update, it's probably set to automatic.

set it to "notify but dont install"

that why you can choose when (if at all) to download updates . . .

Svchost has caused me some grief in the past, where old worms were trying to penetrate their way into my computer. All trying to connect to port 135. Thankfully, Comodo Firewall has sorted that out and now the attacks are stopped cold.

I wonder what svchost was doing though

isn't it the case there is some windows spyware which calls itself something like scvhost instead of svchost?

No when I tracked the IP adress I found that it was indeed a legit Windows process and not spyware.
