Because as far as I know, he is one of the few who was not corruptible.
Yes, we know that. I'm specifically referring to the past year's stats for the Western Cape, though. I guess I'll have to wait for the debate to continue at 14h00 and see if the DA provide a rebuttal to this number quoted for the WC.
The DA have unfortunately not been as impressive as I had hoped in the WC.
They have been in power now in the CT & WC for a good few years.
The ANC has been in power in JHB & Gauteng for ages now.
Had been expecting the WC to rapidly start catching up in GDP to Gauteng and overtaking them. This has not even remotely happened. (Just managing to keep pace. And now KZN is overtaking us).
Just goes to show, it doesn't really matter that much who is in power (And it certainly doesn't match up with the rhetoric being thrown around)

Wow, you're a bit naive there. Gauteng is the economic powerhouse of africa. Sheer inertia means that business will stay here... However I'm willing to bet people are happier in CT than here.

1. Despite a 46% population growth increase, the Western Cape has the highest access to basic services & lowest unemployment rate in SA.
2. R1.7 billion was spent on skills development programmes to provide training opportunities to 98 327 people.
3. The DA has offered 4 065 young people job opportunities in our Work & Skills Programme of which 60% were offered permanent positions subsequently.
4. Since the end of 2012 South Africas’s unemployed population grew by 121 000. In the Western Cape, the unemployed population has shrunk by 48 000.
5. The Western Cape has the highest access to water (99.1%), flush toilets (90.5%) and electricity (93.4%) in the country.
6. The Western Cape has the highest proportions of households receiving FREE basic water, basic electricity & basic sewerage & sanitation.
7. 76% of the provincial budget is allocated to poor communities.
8. During the 2013/2014 financial year, we budgeted R17 million for farm worker development projects.
9. Since 2009 we have delivered 119 674 housing opportunities, creating 37 130 jobs using the services of 147 BBBEE contractors.
10. Between 2009 and 2014 we have issued 88 263 title deeds, drastically reducing the backlog inherited from the ANC administration.
11. Funding for safety promotion programmes in poor communities has almost doubled from R41 million (2010) to R80 million (2014).
12. The Western Cape has the highest number of learners qualifying for Bachelor degree studies in the country.
13. Over 80% of our education budget is spent on the poorest 60% of our learners.
14. Western Cape is the only province that has prevented government employees and their families from doing business with the state.
15. According to the SA Institute of Government Auditors, SA’s top 3 government departments since 2011 have all been in the WCape.

This has always been my feeling on political matters in SA too.
In addition to the fact that economic and tax policies are national, therefore the DA has very little room to put an impulse on this even in WC.

I think theyre doing a much better job than anyone else.
Err, what? The direct comparison makes no sense. You have to look if the province is doing well relative to the others. They're all different and success will look different in each one.
Indeed.
GDP is not the sole measure of success.
That list Ghoti provided is pretty telling actually...
It is the measure I care about, and it is the measure I am talking about right now
Well, if you want to cherrypick stats that suit your agenda, that's your business. Doesn't make your conclusions correct though.
