It will hinge on the NEC meeting tomorrow. Zuma is obviously betting his future on the outcome of that meeting. I'm guessing he's worked out that he stands a chance of coming it out of it unscathed (or bribed sufficient numbers to ensure it). If the NEC decides to keep him, then I'm afraid it's business as usualm he'll remain president for the remainder of his term, fire Cyril and appoint NDZ.

It's not hard to imagine him trying all sorts of insanity if forced into a corner. I almost almost welcome him doing something that dramatic - I know we keep saying it, but it would surely be a step too far...

Just watched an interview on eNCA with the ANC's Secretary-General.

First of all the NEC is postponed, and "constructive and fruitful" discussions will continue between Ramaphosa and Zuma in the coming days.

Don't get too happy yet.
