Howzit ppl,
Just called this supplier, because I wanted to buy something from them.
Guess what!!! My account is "inactive", since I haven't bought anything from them for quite some time. Now, it's fine, I understand that.
What I DON'T understand is why do they want to charge me R500 admin fee to reactivate the account??? Is this a new trend among the supplier? Did anyone else experience this?
Is this even normal?

I don't know....but what erks me is that...why the heck does a supplier cut off their customers if you don't buy from them for a while????

it doesn't make sense...if people don't buy from them, then obviously they must change prices.

Plus that receptionist sounds like she can be a B!tch, think her name is fon gighione.

There after sales service is crap, Don't even try returning an item that still is in warranty, don't even bother to buy from them.

I agree - as a dealer I have accounts with a wide range of distributors. Very often, I won't buy from one or two for an extended period of time, and a few months go by when I suddenly need something exclusive to them and I get the "sorry your account is inactive, please reapply"

AXIZ I'm talking to YOU! ....at least Rectron send a "warning" letter before they do it.

But in the OP's case - to charge you R500 to reactivate it? That's theft.

this is a old thing about suppliers... if you don't use your account they close it...

you generally have to buy every 6 months to ensure that your account stays open

Yeah just tell them to shove it and go buy elsewhere. Who needs an attitude like that.

Sonic's after-sales is truly terrible as zubeb says and yes it seems to be a trend started by Tarsus, who BTW, charge R2K for registration (this however is refunded as a credit if R50K of sales is achieved over the first three months).
A trend they started is retailing straight to the public through their very own Cafe Viva, albeit at a higher than dealer price.

Quick! you need to make 19 more posts to qualify for the iPad2 comp... (ends later today)

Recently I have not been able to find any online retailers who can get stock of cables and other small items from Sonic Informed.
