Sony Bravia HDMI Error

I need assistance if anyone here has seen this before,
I have the KLV-32T400A and have noticed a problem with HDMI connections on the set. When I connect the TV to a laptop via HDMI a message appears on the TV, "unsupported audio signal. Please check output device"... and no picture.

I have a DSD990 connected to the TV via an A/V receiver whose output to the monitor (TV) is also HDMI (and normal component which works). I get a picture with this config but the error message appears... I don't use the TV sound.

SONY tech support are (like true SA tech support) clueless and going on about the need for expensive receivers and other BS completely deflecting from the problem at hand.

If it matters the LCD's native resolution is 1366x768.

We recently had an issue at a client with some HDMI distribution equipment. We could not get any sound on the KLV series 32" LCD's. Turns out they don't support the audio through the HDMI input, only picture. Weird... I know...

Just check if this is not the same problem on your set.

The answer I get from SONY (after I phoned them) is that they don't know. They have referred me instead to a friendly neighbourhood electronics store for help. Yeah SA tech support sucks as usual.
