What is the maximum size flash drive the 32EX400 will recognise?

On a separate note...will the 32EX400 read a portable hard drive....the one that is powered by USB (not wall socket)? if so again what is the maximum size? If its possible for anyone in the forum to answer these questions that will be a great help. :)

Thaks

No idea about maximum sizes, but we regularly connect our 500GB portable USB-powered drives to my mates EX400 without any problems.

I connect my 1tb harddrive and it works fine also

If you have the latest firmware it will support certain xvid, divx and a few others, I think wma but no mkv support

Latest firmware...i did update haven't tried anything yet. I would assume that this is the latest: " Version PKG4.068GAL-0107 " - but it only says the i-Manual has been updated?

" Improvements over earlier version:

* i-Manual update.
* Improves stability of IPTV (Internet Protocol TV) features. (except EX500/EX400 series)
Note: IPTV allows you to enjoy HD (High Definition) programming from the Internet on your BRAVIA television that is connected to a broadband Internet connection.

Are you happy with the TV?

I see R5400 from Nivo

Absolutely...best LCD TV I've seen:) It has got the Bravia 3 engine...which is superb!! Try Tafelberg furnishers if you in Cape Town...Got it for R5100 (not on special) worked a bit of magic by playing shops against each other! Thanks Carte Blanche:P

Great Thanks alot everyone. Will try a few of the usb powered storage drives.

Is that a usb powered drive or is it a wall socket powered drive? I did try my wall socket powered drive and it didn't pick it up? Does the whole drive need to be FAT32 (did create a 10gb partition to test - didn't work) or will it pick up NTFS as well?

The standard firmware when I bought mines was pgk2 and that didn't play divx until I updated the firmware. the problem now is that there is a new improved divx codec now and it's not supported so you might have to convert some divx videos to the older standard if you want it to work.

My hardrive is fat32 I'm guessing it has to be fat32 but check the i-Manual

Where do you get updated firmware for your Sony TVs? I've looked on the Sony site for mine but there is nothing.

Okay so last night tried a WD 160gb Passport drive...strange things started happening. Picked it up for 30seconds then the TV dumped it. Then it loaded...scroll but as it reaches the6th or so folder (music) TV dumps it again? Any ideas? Also tried the wall powered drive and it picked it up but wouldn't detect any folders on the drive...even if there was only one folder. And yes the files were MP3's :)

Try using the other USB port.

@7star - it only has one port:)

@marlboro - sorry dude couldn't find anything either.

Marlboro, the Z-series is supposed to be like ultimate... Check international sites for updates, I don't know cos I'm not yet an LCD owner...

Right...so finally got everything working. Figured out that the sector size when formatting the partition was set incorrectly. Should be set to default of 32. Thanks again for the help.

I didn't know that you could hook up an external hard drive to it, thats great! Gonna try it when I get home :)

I am so super impressed with this tv! The black levels are incredible, comparable to some plasmas I would say!
