Sony can update PS3 firmware without asking

For posterity, the original version of the EULA states:

Some services may be provided automatically without notice when you sign onto SCE's online network...

which may not sound too different - but if I'm reading correctly, the old EULA would provide updates only when connected to the PlayStation network, as opposed to the new one which can provide updates any time your PS3 is connected to the Internet.

And this is yet another reason why I'll never buy an Apple product or a console. You don't buy the product, you buy a license to use it, nothing more.
