Sony closes e-book store


Sony announced Thursday it was closing its ebook store for North America, and giving its customer list to rival Kobo.

Also received the email from them yesterday. Tbh, I could not even remember signing up and I certainly never bought anything from them. Just hope Kobo scores a few useful clients.

I don't think they ever sold to SA customers; I think they might have been geo-restricted. Wonder if this means they won't be making any more eReaders as well. Their devices were great, their shop not so much. Hopefully this will make Kobo a slightly bigger player in the US market.

Sony are doing the right thing, in annexing and shutting down all the loss-making divisions of their company. May yet see a return of the grander Sony of old...
