I signed up on the Sony Ericsson (SA) website to be informed when the phone will be available. I got the notification on the 28 May 2008 to tell me it is now available. Contacted Vodacom three weeks later and they said they dont have it yet. Contacted MTN, and they said it hasnt been released, and that its only coming out at the end of the year![]()
Gona give Sony Ericsson a call later on to find out whats the what with the release of the phone. Been delaying my upgrade for about 5 months already just waiting for the phone to be released.
I will be here early July, Ill wait till August to get a decent one with stable firmware.
We can get the G900 in dark red or the C702/C902. The handset will have a 1yr warranty supported by Premiumstores, firmware upgrades when available can be done online through the SE website. The addition is that the Vodacom handsets are usually Vodafone branded which can be a bit irritating. We can assist with trading in your cellphone upgrade/s against these phones or any phones etc...
Current price on G900 is about R 4500. This is the entry level sales package which includes the PV708 b/t headset, there is a more expensive sales package which includes the 2gb M2 card for R 4800.
We will trade-in any unwanted upgrades, branded or non, on any of the phones we offer or special imports available from overseas.
Thank you for your e-mail communication to Vodacom.
Please be advised that the Sony Ericsson C902 has not been launched on the Vodacom network as yet. At present there is no estimated time of arrival for the handset. Before the handset is launched it will still need to undergo stringent testing which can delay the launch.
Should you have any further queries, please contact us via e-mail at [email protected].

Anyone got any news on this front (C902)?
I contacted vodacom yesterday and they gave me a standard, "we aren't interested in looking into this" reply:
From Peerie's post above it sounds as if it has been launched in SA by SE. So I'm not sure what Vodacom are on about here.
THE INCIDENT
My husband is looking to apply for a MTN contract and obtained a flyer from MTN in which they have the relevant contract options along with phone options. He wanted the Sony Ericsson C702 that was advertised in the flyer.
He enquired at all the MTN branches in the area yet none of the branches even know about the phone. He then contacted Sony Ericsson directly and they informed him that this specific phone will only be launched in South Africa in September 2008.
How can MTN then advertise this phone as available with a contract / upgrade if it hasn't even been launched yet? This is a clear case of false advertising on MTN's part.

G900(red) and C702 (black) now available at Vodacom. G900 is R4900 on prepaid. Looks awesome in red. Gonna pick one up on contract.
Yay finally , but we are going to wait till November when the contract actually expires @ MTN and check if they have them. Hopefully all th bugs would be worked out by then, but haven't yet had a Sony Ericsson that had bugs except the W900i white special edition i dented a wall with!![]()
Been checking with MTN SP about the Sony G900, they still don't have any idea when it will be available. Haven't tried Vodacom but jiteshraj post says its available
