I was on myBB when I posted this, then caught anot
Sony Ericsson K800i availability

Hey MTN_Data_Dude,

Do you perhaps know when this handset will be available at the retail outlets?

I just got this e-mail from MTNSP:

"Good day,

Thank you for using the MTNSP Webmaster service.

Please note that the Sony Ericsson-K800i is available, however you would
need to visit a local MTNSP dealer to enquire on stock availability."

I then called every MTN retail outlet in Johannesburg, Pretoria and Midrand and no-one had stock. Most of them did not even knew that such a model exists.

Thanks

These handsets are not approved as yet as there is a sim card issue, once this is resolved then only will we be able to allocate to dealer channels and retail channels (if required).

MTNDD,

Thanks for the info.

Maybe you should inform MTNSP of this as they are then misinforming their (disgruntled) customers.

I've sent this to the MTNSP manager and I'll ensure that this get's corrected

Thanks MTNDD

Hey MTN_Data_Dude,

Thanks a lot. I suppose these things happen.

In all fairness, I must say that they at least respond to e-mail that come their way. Vodacom on the other hand, send you an automated reply stating that your enquiry was logged into the system and that somebody will get back to you. This never happens.

Keep up the good work.

Nice looks like it will be Sony for me this time. Tired of wating for the Nokia N73 now :(

I see Vodacom has already launched this phone - MTN_Data_Dude do you have an update on availability, Thanks

Has anyone got this phone and played around with it yet, what’s it like, is it a good buy?

I just called most of the outlets in JHB and Pretoria and none of them had the K800i in stock. There are plenty of Vodacom ones but not MTN.

What is the hold-up?

Good day,

I've raised this with Midrand warehouse and will advise ASAP

Thanks MTNDD

I have been waiting for this phone for two months now --- any indication on pricing/free on what contracts?

Good evening,

I've also asked Midrand for a indication on the above and will advise ASAP

Just got a reply from MTN when I e-mailed them this question. I don't know if they misunderstood my query, but they are now asking me to contact my account manager with them.

What does the account manager have to do with the whole affair? Best bet will be that he/she will not even be aware of the existence of such a model let alone why the release is being delayed.
