Hi All

I' am looking at buying an AV reciever - came across the Sony STR-DH800.
I dont want to go with just a normal DVD reciever, since blu ray should start appearing more and more and it would be ideal to be future proof.

This is a mother of an amp.
Seems a bit extreme at the moment to connect just a DVD player, Xbox, Media centre and DSTV decoder.
What you guy's think?

Rather look at the sony 2400es receiver. It is about the same price,
and it is getting good reviews.

Agree with Go Za above.

Rather go for the ES series, better amp section, and converts all your analogue source to digital rather than just passing through untouched.Helpful if you have a DSD1110 or similar decoder, heck even the SDPVR.
2400ES or 3400 ES if you need even more inputs!
