Hey guys,

I got a sony w810 I it is on MTN PAYG. I have a 32 k sim card in the phone.

When I connect to my laptop I can configure it as an edge modem and use it to dial. The network config wizard also allows me to connect to the network via edge connection. It uses the settings on the phone for this.

However when I connect I am limited to the 115 k limit that Windows has for connections via modem settings.

Is there anyway around this?
 
the speed that you see is the speed at which windows connects to the device. if it via serial cable or infra-red, you can change the speed in the settings inside device manager.

how do you connect to the phone?
 
go to dialup properties, then to modem config, and select the speed, you can select up to 960 kbps (+/-). This is the speed that windows dispaly's but it is not the actual speed, you'll have to do a speed stest to fing out the actual speed.
 
were can i find a speed test for the connection, i connect via cable it seems to be the most reliable. thanks
 
i checked the speed setting and stuff i cant seem to be able to boost the speed i must be looking in the wrong place can anyone advise on that. the max setting speed i can see is 115 on the modem port speed, is there some other palce to set this up on the connection

Second 128K 7109 msecs: Download speed = 18437 Bytes per sec, Approx = 153K bits per sec
Third 128K 6968 msecs: Download speed = 18811 Bytes per sec, Approx = 157K bits per sec
Fourth 128K 6266 msecs: Download speed = 20918 Bytes per sec, Approx = 174K bits per sec


Anyone able to translate this into something understandable

174K bits sounds like Edge to me......

What does your area cover according to the coveage map

Telkom is 56K
