Sony Xperia Z3 Compact back panel cracked for no reason.

Ditto. Was planning on getting a Z3 next month but reading this thread and others on the web changed my mind. The Z2 doesn't seems to have this issue, can any Z2 users confirm?

I got a Z2 and the rear glass panel also just cracked for no reason! Taking it in this weekend to see what they say.....

My rear panel cracked a while back. Was the front screen's turn this morning. It fell off the coffee table when the alrm went off. Will get it back tomorrow.

Mine just did this... it was in the magnetic charging doc, I lifted it off and it fell 5cm (seriously) onto a book and while I was using it I could hear it slowly shattering into a thousand pieces... really slowly, over about 2 minutes.

So to sum up this thread they will replace it under warranty?

My Z back screen also disintegrated. Threw it away. Will try Samsung now.

I got my phone back. The rear panel was replaced under warranty. When I took the phone in I told the consultant that this is a common problem, I researched it online and it is well documented that these phones have a problem.

The repair seems decent. Looks like new.

Seems like I am then very fortunate with my Z1. It has dropped , it has bounced after falling on, say a chair. yet it has never been damaged.

Yes, it has even fallen on brick paving and tar...

lol, I don't know why, it just happens. :o

I'm also due for a upgrade - and now I'm thinking against it.

Just get a cover like normal people. Everyone I know with a cover has 0 issues.

R3,000 for the rear glass?!

I was told a few hundred for the rear and the front was the expensive. I was quoted R4,500.00 for the front.

My z3 back glass shattered exactly like yours now after 2 months.Just left it on the table and it went like that. i dont know whether to take it to mtn after reading all this. I have a 24 month contract with them.

After reading about this issue a few months ago, I decided to insure my z3 compact and I'm glad I did. Around Christmas time, the back cracked for no reason and a little later, I dropped it and cracked the front corner. Flap covering the USB port also came loose. Insurance gave me a brand new z3 compact which I now have nice snug in a gel case. Hopefully that will keep it safe.

So it seems even a battery replacement for these phones is not as simple as buying a new battery. Any advice from someone who has had to do this?
