Soooo.. how is No Nut November going?

It's an offshoot of nofap, which is mostly oriented around giving up porn (and fapping to porn) so that people can return to having a normal sex life with other people again. There's a generation who's sex-life revolves around digital novelty and the endless stimulation it provides. Without context this whole nofap thing can seem silly, but within the broader context of trying to reclaim a healthy sex life and break the connection / addiction to internet porn - it's a worthwhile project imo.

Normally people who abstain or deny themselves something during a period of time; is doing it in such a way that it doesn't solve the problem and is counter productive.

If you really have a [sexual] habitual problem then the solution isn't simply demonizing, avoiding or abstinence, but reworking starting with your thoughts.

Action isn't some loose entity, it begets within thinking.

:edit
In fact a decent cultivated awareness is key and goes a long way.

The idea started not to do away with enjoying sexuality, but as a challenge to get away from digital and back to reality.

Sometimes, people with an issue (and in this case, as saor explained pages ago, the issue is an estrangement from oneself and one's own healthy sex life, often related to porn addition) can't even find the quiet they would need to cultivate that very awareness. That's the reason to use abstinence for a while.

People use temporary abstinence of all sorts, for just a while, to calm down so they can think, and so that they can figure out who they are, again, like switching off the phone for a few hours, or fasting for a week, or drinking less or not at all, or giving up chocolate for a while, or not going out at night to get more sleep. As soar said, "without context this whole nofap thing can seem silly", but it doesn't have to be demonizing, and can be seen as part of the route back to enjoying sex and sexuality healthily without needing porn to get there.

That's actually not what it's about. It's for married couples to not withdraw and go at it alone but to bring the intimacy back into the relationship. It's not for single people to abstain as it is.

Pretty sure it started from nofap communities which generally have nothing at all to do with whether one is married or not. Go look at any of the nofap forums or Reddits. Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious.

Always thought it started to take the mickey out of Movember etc.

I believe that was how it started. By incels.
A lot of it was born of a desire to

a.) Stop looking at porn because of all the bs attached to both the industry and the social and personal aspects
b.) Dial down the impulse to just continuously submit to our desires and learn to make different choices about what to pay attention to.
